Wow... That's huge! (The shot)
The shot looks very well done. I look forward to seeing some more. 😊

Here's two shots from two quests I'm working on:

A peaceful screenie in Kakariko Village.

The Brothers Quest. Experts quest for beta 254. Also a version for good players available. http://brothersquest.hostrocket.com for download, info and pics.

A completed well tested game. Uses BS graphics. Very open game with lots to explore and do. Several overworld maps, many dungeons and lots of side quests.

Some have stated that 254 was crashing with my quest. I've had many friends test it and never crash, but be aware. Also I will move to a newer version when a version that is stable and has no critical bugs is available.

Crap. I really like the 4th shot. The way the shadows lie on the surroundings looks great; there's lots of colors and varying textures on the screen (actually, all of them). Too bad it must have taken a decent bit of time making them due to their complexity.

Yeah. The 4th shot is my favorite out of them as well.

It doesn't take that much time at all to use these graphics. I made the 4th screen within about 3 minutes, compared to the 45 minutes it takes me to make an equally awesome screen using Pure/DoR. What takes the longest is putting down the grass, but I just keep a blank screen with the grass laid down properly handy to just copy. Everything there is also relatively easy to use, with the exception of the overbrush on the trees, which takes a bit of practice to use well.

My least favorite is the first shot, mainly because I didn't have much to put in it because the set of tiles for the area wasn't done yet. If you couldn't tell, I put all 4 screens I made in order from least favorite to favorite.

Yeah, it's been a while. In case you don't go to PureZC, here's a shot from my latest project

Your screenshot are always incredible *b*. Nice custom work at the top! I can't wait for you to release some of your quests!

(I know I posted these before, but that thread seemed to have gotten drowned by all the others. Lol! 😃)

Hello, all. I want thoughts on my Quest's Title Screen. It is a quest using only the basic "Classic" tileset, but making use of some of 2.10's newer items and features. The Title Screen has four parts, and will revolve between them every ten seconds until the player presses down. Let me know what you all think!

I like them all except for the second one. Only because it's hard to read the text with the white background. And those look really good Blaman! I really like the subscreen and the town.

Yes, that was actually my thought as well... Maybe I should darken the text to make it readable over the tower. But yes, I agree that that one is a little too hard to read in its current form.

I think they all look wonderful. I can't wait untill the quest is released. And now I have a few screenshots of my own that I know are in desperate need of help. They are supposed to be on top of a mountain. If any one had any suggestions for how to make these better, they would be apreciated. Anyways, here they are:

And if anyone cares, they are screens from the End of Time remake.

In the top picture it's quite hard to make out what it's supposed to look like. With your mountains only being a couple of tiles tall like that, and there being those zoomed out trees to give perspective of great height, it looks strange, because the mountains don't actually look tall (being only a couple of tiles), unless you assume them to be big floating blocks of rock. Which I suppose they could be, but probably not...

And the second shot looks generally quite empty - especially with alllll that non-textured grass taking up such a high percentage of the screen. I would add quite a lot more of those zoomed out woody things to the bottom - because again it could look like the mountain is only one tile high - and put a couple more clouds maybe.

And here is a picture of one of my custom bosses in my FFA quest:

It's not a very exciting one, but it also shoots fireballs and makes rocks drop from the ceiling as you might expect. I'm quite pleased with it though, because you have to slash it's head while it's moving and it's in 2.10.

Also, I have a small village in my game called Asmodia. It isn't actually on the overworld - you step into a 'gate' which warps you to the village's dmap via a sidewarp, so in the overworld itself it doesn't actually exist. It's quite plain however, as most of the edges of all the screens are taken up with just 1x1 trees:

Baring in mind I'm limited to graphics from FFA only, which has no 2x2 trees or anything, and I can't really have any mountains there, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can put?

Was that directed toward me or Blaman?

Joe was right... they look a little plain, and the mountains don't look so real. This is easily remedied by adding another layer of tiles for the side of the mountain, and adding some textured grass. I'm sure it will look good.

Joe, that boss looks cool!

It was directed t you LostInHyru1e. And those mountains in the first shot can't really be improved too much, because I'm trying to keep them looking similar to the original. Here's the originl screen:

And Joe123, that boss looks great. But you said it moves, and you hav to hit the head, but it's a 2.10 quest. How are you going to do that? And for the town, couldn't you dd rocks, or shrubs, or something lik that?

I'm not sure if there are any rocks in the set I'm afraid, I'm just using graphics from FFA. I spose I could vary the trees with some little bush things, but it might look a little strange.

And I've already done that for the boss. It's not perfect, but if you don't try to pick it apart on purpose and just fight the boss, it works fine. Basically, the centipede combo-cycles across the screen, moving damage combos along with it (which was akward enough to do anyway), but either side of the centipede, slash combos cycle along next to it, with one next to the head on both sides. The under combo for the room is the same graphic as the floor, but is a direct warp type. It does work, but if you're trying to make it go wrong on purpose it's not hard. I was quite pleased with it though.

That's a REALLY clever way to make a boss, it looks awesome! But how does it register when it's dead? Wouldn't it only take one hit to kill? I'm curious about this, and am only asking questions because I want to create a boss like that on my own. 😃

The game doesn't actually register that it is dead. The game does not see it as an enemy but as a bunch of combos. When you hit the slash tiles, it activates the secrets in the room, wich turn the ground into direct warps that take you to te next screen. Then you can just keeping warping from screen to screen until you reach a screen where it shows the boss die.

well its not quite that simple, it starts off shooting fireballs at you -where you have to get it with the fire magic (or wand), then smacks into the top wall and makes rocks fall if you don't get it quick enough. When you do that, it does the same on the other side of the room, then charges across like that, and you have to hit it twice.

As russadwan said though, the game doesn't register that it's dead - or that it's alive, or even a boss.

Not to try to put you off, but it does take a lot of effort to get it to cycle around across the room like that. I think it took me between 4 and 5 hours to finish it properly.

You're right, it sounds like a LOT of work. I have a question...

...How does it "knock down" the boulders off the wall? Wouldn't the boulders just come down all the time?

On the screen that you want him to knock boulders off the wall, you would just set the falling rocks screen flag. If you want, I can pm you a link to a qst file that has the custom bosses my quest is using and a message strring that tells you how to set up each screen or something like that. Or if you really want to see custopm bosses in action, play Hero of Dreams. That quest has the best custom bosses ever.

heh.
it uses 20 duplicate screens. the boulders only fall on the screen after the one where it smacks into the wall.

posting at the same time ftw.

I can pm you the quest if your interested at playing it/looking at how it works.

I would love that! It seems so awesome. I want to make custom bosses, but it looks so hard...

Okay, thank you! That's awesome. My E-Mail Address is [email protected]. Thanks!

It's been a while since I last posted screen shots here.

These aren't actually part of a quest (yet), but were made to help me practice with different types of overworld environments with different moods using PTUX. They are actually pretty old. I just want them to be critiqued. Nothing else to say really.

They look wonderful. Although the second picture has a tad bit to many trees. And if the last picture is a snowy mountain top, how can sow many plants survive? But the other pictures are great. Nice job.
