Well, first, thank you for making a quest like this that actually almost plays like a "real" game. Very well done, I love the overworld in particular and how it hides a lot of things, like with these narrow passages. Running all over, searching for secrets has been quite fun.
The dungeons also looked great, I especially loved the second one.
Thing I disliked so far were the many, many attempts at stalling time. Like the third dungeon - highest floor, with the moveable blocks that create this "ice" floor. Of course, if you do one mistake, you don't drop one floor, or two - no, you drop to the basement - right into one of these hands that eat your shield - awesome. And you can't even move back up, no, you gotta leave the whole castle. This is just annoying. Same goes for that weird bonus cave with the blood all over(what's with that, shouldn't the blood be dried up by now? :P) - the boss was easy as heck, and the only reason I died the first time was that I didn't bring all 20 bombs with me because of the skeleton face before it.
Then there was level 2, with the last key - someone seems to have considered it funny to, after bombing the column, place a teleport below the player. Nice, another 10 minutes on the counter. That sure increases played time, but I'm really not sure that is proper game design for a lengthy game :P
Stuff like that usually made me stop playing for a bit, because it's really mostly a pain, not hard.
The only other criticism so far were the pirate skeletons, who totally kill the athmosphere whenever you talk to them - why doesn't Link just ask them what happened? :P I avoided them basically all the time, because it made the game a whole lot better(btw, another bug here, their captain continues selling the scroll over and over)
But eh, that aside, it has been quite fun so far. Bosses were mostly easy, but nicely designed(except the bug thing in the palace garden - were you supposed to be able to die to it? I just spammed slash and survived despite only having 1 heart the whole time. Didn't get hit even once. The two "crabs" before were harder because of the fireballs they shot).
I also love the flamethrower-green thingies that explode when you kill them. A nice surprise 😊 And, well, the dungeons rocked if I ignore the stupid time-stalling.
So did the triforce dungeons, all of them had a great theme and while they were short, they definitely were tricky in parts.
I'd give it a 8.5/10 so far, and recognize the tremendous planning you must have put into it, seeing how the map connects like that and all.
Now, however, I am on another annoying thing - and I have no idea what to do.
I completed level 3, found the death sword, the blue armor, the bow, the golden glove, got 20 bombs, a seemingly full magic meter, I found that odd amulet in the desert - and now I'm stuck with no idea where to go. The hints the skeletons give are useless - they only point me at items I already have. The prized medallion seems to be doing nothing - I can't even select it, nor is it displayed anywhere and I can't give it to anyone. One skeleton says that there is a treasure in a cave - but my bow doesn't do anything to the statue close by.
There's another bow-statue in the desert, at the techno-fortress looking place, but the pig-face-block makes it impossible to shoot at it - and I can't enter the fortress itself because all doors are locked and nothing I do does anything to the lamps/doors. I guess this is the final dungeon? Sure looks like it. For a while I thought I had to enter it(because the big block I could move with the updated glove), but the doors block of every way.
I've thought that some of the burnable trees were helping, but even if my candle hits them, they do not burn(much like a torch in one of the caves, close to spikes. I can burn it, but my candleflame doesn't actually ignite it). There are also a few old-looking trees on the worldmap, but the candle doesn't do anything to them, either.
Since I got the medallion, and the skeletons tell me to get it, I think I have to use it somewhere, but there seems to be no place where it actually does anything o.o;
So, uh, where am I supposed to go, any hint? ^^; I've literally gone everywhere, and there are almost no screens left on the map that I haven't explored yet. Please help, I'd like to finish the game 😊
