So I finally got around to collecting all of the triforce pieces and making my way through the Catacombs/Doom Cave, and I got to the boss in the Doom Cave (a giant skull on the wall) but nothing I tried seemed to be hurting it. I used arrows, wand, bombs, and reflecting the fireballs back at him. What's the secret?

There are two skull bosses in the level. For the first, you must defeat the manhadlas in the room, and then bomb the skull on the wall four times. And bring plenty of bombs for the incredibly hard boss. For it, you must defeat all the enemies it summons, and then bomb it to blow it's brain out. Then you must constantly slash at it. Then repeat the process.
Thanks russadwan; I'll try it over the weekend and see if I can make any more progress!
You're welcome. And good luck. You'll need it. I suggest you bring the level 2 sword and at least the blue armor, but perferably the red armor.
There was talk of having a level 4 sword in there somewhere, but we both agreed it would probably make things insanely easier. So we stuck with just the level 3 sword and made THAT one the hard one to get.

Then where was the level 4 sword going to be? And it probably would make things to easy.
probably where the Bomberang is.

Oh. After you beat the game? In that case, you should have included it.
probably, but for those who have opted not to go through the trouble of getting the death sword, it would have completely nullified the triforce > catacomb > sword quest. And we didn't want that. 😉
Oh. Good point.

Got it. Thanks again russdwan; now it's time to go back and get the level 2 arrows, and hence the red armor!
The level 2 arrows can be found in two places. First is the dreaded and super well hidden Master Dome. Second, is in the very heart of Mt. Horgus. I suggest you just find them in level 5, and go back out and get the red armor. The Master Dome is just a pain. I went all the way through one part of it, only to find 200 arrows.
bwhahahahahahaha
Yeah I've tried the Master Dome on a few occasions, even knowing the "trick"to it, but just got fed up and tried something else. I'm running out of other things to try though!
Well, looks like I'll give Level 5 another shot. :uhoh:
Level 5 is the easiest level. But the arrows are not inside the temple. They are outside it, in the crater.
Easiest? 😊 Well it is perhaps the most simple level, but I'm sure it provides more challenge than the first levels in the game. 😉
And yeah, Master Dome is too annoying, sorry Wolfie, haha. 😃
I think level 5 is the easiest level, but it's my favorite. I like the idea of going through black and white versions of the other levels. And I love the music for the crater. It just matched the atmosphere of the level perfectly.
Okay okay, it may be the easiest if you are well prepared. 😉
The Level 5 midi is indeed great and fitting, but my favorite midi for some reason has always been the Oderra Village midi. I don't know why, but that always puts a smile on my face. 😉
Ya, which is why I really don't think it fits. The village was a little too cheery, in my opinion. Especially with the skeleton sailors, with their strange accents.
I've yet to tackle the Plague Fortress. Maybe I'll do that right now, since I really want to continue the story!
EDIT: I'm so glad I was able to open gate 2 just to find gate 4... 🙄
you'll need the magic rod chip to open gate 4, if you haven't received that item yet, don't worry about opening it just yet.
But yeah, I've really been enjoying the Plague Fortress so far. It really feels like Banjo Tooie's Grunty Industries, which is my favorite level of the game.
EDIT: Hm, didn't expect to get the Boss Key first... That's useless now.
EDIT2: Found another key...
EDIT3: What is this crap statement that I pulled out of the original LI thread?
Petoe wrote:Yeah, what Wolfie ment was that Level4 will be so big and hard to build that everything we have to do after that is a walk in the park compared to Lv4. But for players... challenge wise, everything gets just tougher after Lv4. But even though the quest will be challengign, it should be beatable for everyone. We work hard and test it thoroughly to make it a consistent and enjoyable experience.
I don't like big and/or hard dungeons. 😛
Crap statement? :P Oh well... I like to make big and hard stuff, and I know that as a woman Wofie likes big and hard stuff. 😊 Er, nevermind. 😃
🙄
I'm officially stuck. Like, stuck. I have the second key (for the Chip), but I can't get to that chest (as in, I have no idea where it is in relation to the interior of the dungeon; obviously it is the one I can see on the overworld).
Any sort of hint on how to get to it? I'm free to answer any questions since I'm sure the explanation is long and complicated.
Actually, you have to leave the level. Towards the right side of the level, there should be a door leading out of it. Go across the platau a screen or two, and you will come to a door leading into the Plague Laboratory.
I can trace the path to get to that exit as far back as, I think, this area:

I think I need to take that ladder up, go through a few rooms, go on that flying blue square, and use that exit to continue.... but I have no idea how. Very perplexing.
use your wand on the red button there.
Yeah, figures it was something simple like that. 🙄
Mini-boss is hard. I'll tackle that tomorrow, though.

The mini-boss is what happens when a script goes out of control. It's crazy!
Ahh, come om now! A couple of tries and you should learn its moves and patterns, though thanks to the new ZC features it acts randomly sometimes, but it shouldn't be THAT crazy... 😊
