Okay, here is my review for Lost Isle:
Gameplay: 10/10. The game played very smoothly.
General design: 10/10. Need I coment here?
Overworld design: 9/10. The overworld was set up very well. It seemed a little linear at times, but for the most part, it was good.
Dungeon design: 10/10. The dungeons were set up very well. Not too linear, not too many keys (with the exception of level 3) and just the right length so that the player takes a while to get through it but doesn't loose interest in it.
Music: 9/10. For the most part, I loved the music in the quest. The town music didn't seem to fit though. And the music for Morlach's story would sound better for the escape part. But for the most part, the music was good.
Storyline: 9/10. Lost Isle's storyline doesn't open up untill the end of the game (most of it is explained right before the final boss) but it is good.
Graphics: 10/10. The graphics were amazing. The Lost Isle tileset should be released.
Bosses: 10/10. I loved the bosses. The normal bosses were sort of semi custom, and fun to beat. The custom bosses were awesome. Especially the ice dragon (my favorite). It actually felt like fighting a real enemy, not just a clump of combos with slash flags on them.
Misc: 10/10. The subscreen was well put together. The custom enemies were awesome. The game in general was awesome. All ten misc. points are well deserved by Lost Isle.
Overall: 97/100. Petoe, DarkFlameWolf, you two did an excellent job! I look forward to playing more of your games.
Lost Isle RELEASED
I'm sorry, but I have to to an objection. I could never give Gameplay a 10/10 when the quick sword is on WITH SLASH. It makes a horrible duo because if you keep slashing your sword even a bit too fast Link just holds it on his left side and usually slashes halfway through, but doesn't finish the slash and enemies will get you.
Also why not Z3-Movement? With Zelda 1 Movement when you walk on narrow paths with spikes close to you, when you turn, Link does one step to the direction he was walking, and then turns! This leads me often walking to the spikes...
Otherwise it's good. But, I'm stuck in the first temple. I've got the key from the maze with the little Zols, but I can't progress anymore.
damn im being playing for 2 hours and im still stuck in lvl 1.
cant find anything lol... i only found a shield in a cave...
Cant find the caves where u been talking about either for the bow etc.
Is there a walkthrough on youtube like zelda classic ?
tnx.
Petoe wrote:Hmm... that's true! Never thought of that myself! O_o
Yeah, I used it in my 3-heart game to kill the heart monitors. Wanted to step out of the safe zones as little as possible.
Imprisoned: Hmm... I just don't see how quick sword with slash can be a nitpick to anyone. Just don't tap your sword button like crazy and you will not experience any sword problems. 😉
Many people have asked about Z3 movement, and even though I agree it would be cool to have it, there are 2 very good reasons it was left out:
1) LI was made with the old movement in mind (the quest was started on ZC 1.92)
2) Diagonal movement is not 100% bugfree and unproblematic, that's the biggest reason it was left out. I felt like Z3-movement was an unfinished feature and there's no place for such features in a bugfree game. That's how I feel about it anyhoo.
Both Lv1 keys are on floor B1. The one you're missing is in the southwest part of B1. But you can only get there from F1... Suomeksi tää on helpompaa: Siellä F1:n luoteiskulmassa on köynnöksiä, laske veden tasoa niin pääset kiipemään niitä pitkin alakertaan ja kun olet alhaalla... slahs those vines to reveal a secret door to the key! 😉
dUTCHIE: Where exactly are you stuck? How far in Lv1 have you proceeded?
i just cant find the caves where the Oderra Bow and Wooden Arrow are hidden.
i found some caves but then i need to move a rock or something so i cant pass that.
Under the village i found a cave with a shield next to the entrage. There are a couple of snakes in there and some metal spikes in the floor, but cant pass, i found also a box with a green bottle there. Do you mean these cave ?
Here you can find a map where you can find where the items are
dUTCHIE: So you have the Bow and Arrows now? After getting those, you need to head west. Go through the dark forest and when you come to the swamp, you need to get to the southwestern corner where the Lv1 is located. 😉
yeah i finally found it, i was looking for caves on the beach.
tnx for the map it help me alot !!!
Thanks very paljon :P
Though I haven't experienced any problems with z3 movement in my quest... but I suppose it's a good enough reason.
don't forget this was made on a special version of like build 278 or something which had very buggy zelda 3 movement >.>
in the current build the zelda 3 movement is near perfect.
im now in dungeon#1 pretty far, but every time i die i start @ the beginning and the water is back so i must do that again over and over.
Lol, that happened to me like 3 times. Im in dungeon 3 and I am having a bit of a struggle but I will figure it out.
well after 15 times it istn funney anymore lol.....
15 times? Oohh... O_o Which room is giving you such a hard time?
Alright, this is embaressing, but I have no idea where level 1 is. I've explored the town, field, woods, swamp, and graveyard, and I have my sword and some bombs. Where on earth do I go next?
First, you need the bow and arrows. Both are hidden in the town. Some houses have bombable doors and walls. After you get the bow and arrows, head west. When you get to the forest, head southwest. You will eventually come to a swamp. When you reach a pig statue and a demon looking pole, shoot the pole with an arrow to continue. Eventually you will reach level 1.
And by the way, POST 700!

not just 1 room more stupid mistakes or walking into a room and suddenly enemies appear and got me.
I have found the map, compass, raft, a key en the dungeon key almost everthing i think.
Only 1 door is blocking by a big stone i think i need to go there ?

You actually can't get through that door until you get an item later in the game. If you've got the dungeon key, all you should need to find is the door to the boss's lair!
On a totally different note, I've been wandering around level 4, trying to find the switches for doors 2 and 3 for a while. Any help?
Isn't switch 3 visible in one of the rooms leading to the power switch?
Anarchy_Balsac wrote:Isn't switch 3 visible in one of the rooms leading to the power switch?
It indeed is. Switch 3 is in a room near the eastern power control room, but you have to find a route to get to the switch.

That's the room with the "hot spots" that gradually move up, correct? On the left side? I saw that, but assumed that I had to get gate two open before I could access that. I'll see if I can find the alternate route.

Okay, I found the switches for doors 2 and 4, but still haven't had any luck finding the alternate route to switch 3. Do you drop down to that area from a room above?

Yes, you have to drop down from the floor above, but not the exact same room. I hope you can figure it out. If not, I have to write you step-by-step instructions.
Switch 3 shouldn't be hard to find. If you can find your way to the switch 2 gate you just go right I think.
I've taken a hiatus far too long from this quest. I've been too busy finishing my quest that I've forgotten to play others' quests.
So I'm in Level 3. I've found one key (the one next to the main entrance) and the compass; I used the key on the eastern door from the main hall. I can't find a key to the lock block in the room a few farther into the castle. I've explored as much as I can (including the basement), and I've even gotten into that northeastern cave in the overworld via the castle (but, of course, I need the ladder). Any suggestions?
Pineconn: Do you have a Boomerang? If you do, then go down and right from the compass room, and then up and then right. Bomb the weak part on the southern wall and go south to a timed game. Solve the game and it leads you to a 2x2 maze. After you get out of the maze, you get the key.
Petoe makes it sound simpler than it is, its bloody hard. :P
Bloody hard? :P
You've never complained about it before, have y? 😉
Yep, it was the bomb door that duped me. The timed puzzle wasn't that hard (took me 3 tries), but I died a few times in that maze (falling floor tiles + Wizzrobes + Wallmasters = evil). But I got the key, and I'm pretty doggone happy. Thanks. 😉
