Okay, I have the golden arrows. But now I need a lot of keys. And I have no idea where to get them. Help please.

I must be blind or something because I can't find the man in the following hint. (level7)

1) Up in the mountain. Give the man a whack on the head!

Where's he?

If you are on top of the mountain there is a guy peeking through a hole in the wall ...............

patrickab7: Look at that statue again.

Bombis: Warp with the ocarina, take the westernmost warp, and go right.

Dan Furst wrote:patrickab7: Look at that statue again.

.........ah, I got ya. Will revisit that area when I get the chance. Rather convenient that the statue is just slightly out of lens range...

I am currently adding a little more to Level 8 and making the end boss sequence a little longer. I will post again when I am complete.

patrickab7 wrote:Rather convenient that the statue is just slightly out of lens range...

Yes, that is rather convenient, isn't it?

russadwan wrote:Okay, I have the golden arrows. But now I need a lot of keys. And I have no idea where to get them. Help please.

Couldyou please answer this question? Sorry, but I just can't do level 9 that well. You did an excellent job making it.

Ah crap. My bad. Sorry. 😊

Location of Gold Arrow statues:

F2, 65: You get two keys from this leg of the dungeon.
B1, 42: En route to item #3.

And that's it.

I just beat the game. Counting Hyrule Castle, I had 101 deaths, and 17 hours to beat it. The last boss was fun, but way to easy. And there is still a lot of storyline that went unexplained.
Why does Vatii look like a giant statue? He is supposed to be a black orb, not an aztec idol. Second, why is he reffered to as an underling of Ganon? Ganon and Vatii are two seperate super villians, and don't have much to do with each other. Third, where is Ganon? If Vatii was his underling, he should at least make an appearence. And lastly, when the ending screen appears (the one that says "the end"😉, why does Saria's song from OoT play?
All in all, it was a fin game.

bobrocks95 wrote:I just checked my time, I was about 28 hours, 40 minutes in and died exactly 170 times.
It would be nice if we knew how long it took us to get that special key we needed in level 7 that we couldn't find before pineconn put the locations on the forum 😃😃😃

Congrats Russadwan

Dan Furst wrote:russadwan, you know this game is not official canon, right? Some things are better left unexplained.

Seriously, russadwan. But to explain your third question, who do you think those eyes were during the credits? Vaati was dead, so it must have been...

Just like Shigeru Miyamoto, I don't like my work to be criticized.

Like I've been saying, I'm adding a little to the Temple of the Winds and I'm making the end boss a little harder. I think I'll have this update finished tomorrow, everyone.

Just downloaded it and am in the swamp. Looks great so far!

Pineconn - although this game isn't canon, you should not leave plot details unexplained. You're going to get your work criticized at some points, just take it and fix it. Seriously, Russadwan is one of the nicest people you're ever going to get Concrit from. If you can't take it from him, you'll be screwed when a real critique comes around.

I'd like the Saria's Song and Ganon-Appearance questions answered, whether here or in an update... but it's no big deal if you don't.

EDIT: I got to Level 1. I got 3 overworld keys, but I need another one and cannot find it. I got one in the house, one in a Chest in the top-left of the swamp, and one a bit to the right of Level 1's entrance in the Overworld. How many more keys do I need, and where are they?

First of all, make sure you have the boomerang. In Hyrule Field, there is a cave. In the first screen, bomb the north wall. Second, Pineconn loves bombable walls. If you get stuck, start bombing the walls.

I did the Saria's Song thing just because Majora's Mask ends like that. Simple enough.

Major spoiler warning:
In a nutshell, Vaati is the underling to Ganon. You kill Vaati, but Vaati's final words and Zelda's words hint that Ganon is the "boss" of Vaati. Why? Because I said so. It's called an artistic license.
You need only 3 keys to enter Level 1 (like the man said). The rest of the dungeon is self-contained.

I'll repeat myself by saying I'll have a major update tomorrow. I'll post when it is official so that you can download it. All you'd have to do is replace the old quest file with the new one.

Okay, so where in the general Zelda timeline does LttH fall? Or more specifically, before or after End of Time? As I was remaking it, I thought it would be better with some storyline besides the standard rescue Zelda from Ganon thing. If I could make it refer to LttH, it would be even better. And another thing that still goes unanswered
Why does Vaati look like an aztec idol?

Why not? It's just a rip of the boss of the Fortress of the Winds from Minish Cap.
Um... I'd say that LttH is after EoT by, oh, 100-200 years. That's enough time to allow the biomes to change slightly. Out of pure coincidence, LttH's areas are relatively similar to EoT's by location. Sort of.

Hey Pineconn, one of the gorons on Hestone Mountain says that the gorons are too heavy to travel through the clounds, but there are gorons in the cloud inn! Just realized that. Can you explain that, huh huh huh...........

My personal opinion is that Pineconn put any "story" second to gameplay. You know, the story of the first Zelda is pretty simple (kill pig rescue girl) and I think that you don't necessarily need much more than that for this kind of game. Although, a good story surely increases the immersion, no argument there.

If Pineconn does indeed make a third game, you can bet that a good story will come out of it. (Hey, I'll write some zscript!)

Ya, I could sort of tell that story isn't very important to him. Which is why I am trying to add some storyline to End of Time. Good storylines come naturaly to me. Unfortunatly, good cutsceens to illistrate those storylines dodn't come so easily.

Yeah, he's totally not into Final Fantasy-like games at all. Neither am I. 😛

You know, movies that require you to press buttons.

Pineconn, listen to this. I just played the last boss again, and then I played against the Ganon enemy in End of Time redux. Ganon was harder to beat. When you update the last boss, make sure he gets a lot harder. And I mean a lot.

:eyebrow:

Fixed.

russadwan wrote:I just played the last boss again...

Huh? How?

russadwan wrote:When you update the last boss, make sure he gets a lot harder. And I mean a lot.

Don't worry, I will.

Ah. I was beginning to think that there was a bug in the boss flag triggers after Level 9. After you complete the final boss, see the credits, talk to your mom, go to Hyrule Castle, take the Time Traveling Extravagantastic Shrine back to Cataclysm Spire, and enter the boss door, you won't go to the boss; instead, you'll view the credits again.

I'm still working on Level 8!

No, there is no bug. Although you really should let the player fight the final boss again. What's the point of going back in time to the level if you can't fight the boss?

Finally completed the quest. Very well done, my friend...

.........

...(reads something about an update)

...you're going to make me play through this all over again, aren't you?...

...(goes somewhere to cry)

Congrats on that. Did you rate it or comment on it, by the way? You don't have to, of course. I am also curious on your death count/completion time. And no, you don't have to play through it again, this update will add 6 screens and make numerous subtle changes to Level 8. It will also increase the length (slightly) difficulty (moderately) of the final boss. I think this is about the 4th time I said that.

I'm in the mood to post the history of the quest. It is a bit spoilerific (as it describes places, characters, and explains the story a little bit). You have been warned.

Picture 2 and a half years ago. JayeM adds End of Time to the QDB, it gains relatively good reception, and I decide to make another quest. I check out numerous tilesets at PureZC and I end up using the original Pure Tileset (not PTU or PTUX, mind you). I'm unfamiliar with the tileset, so I make a mini quest (and I also figure out layers).

So I design the overworld on paper. Originally, the Volcanic Wasteland was a quagmire. Also, the Sparsi Desert was moved over to where the Northern [and upper part of Southern] Hyrule Field is now. I eventually change the overworld up a little (changing areas' borders slightly) to how it is today. I also assign dungeon locations and dungeon items (Level 6's hammer and Level 7's bracelet #2 originally were switched around).

As you can see, absolutely no story was built at all. Around the creation of Level 4, I create the intro sequence. This is when I determined that the Volcanic Wasteland was created by the Evil (Ganon, not Vaati - a minor and subtle story twist). Around the creation of Level 7 or 8, I realize that I completely forgot about Zelda. I then determine that after you defeat Vaati, the Volcanic Wasteland turns into Hyrule Castle. This means that when Ganon invaded Hyrule Castle, he transformed it into the lava and mountains that you see. He then appointed Vaati to guard the 8 Triforce Pieces. By doing this, Ganon transferred the power of the dominion of Hyrule to Vaati. He then created the monsters and they infested the eight religious temples of the land.

Back to me. The first dungeon to be designed on paper is Level 4. I build the quest normally for a few months (Levels 5 and 6 and their respective overworld areas), and when I design Level 7 on paper, I decide to totally scrap B2. It really sucked. I mean, it really sucked. I redesign Level 7, am happy with the result, and build it. So if I hadn't redesigned it, you guys would not have had to feel as much pain and suffering. 😉

As I near completion, I hit a major roadblock. Since I originally gave out the boots in Level C, I had almost no way of dealing significant damage during the fight against Vaati. I therefore decide to make Din's Fire the item of Level C and not to include the other two magic spells. I eventually complete the quest, hand it to Amaster to beta test (Dan Furst beta tested as I constructed the quest, and Alanna Furst determined if the quest was too difficult for new players). I then box it, price it, and publish it. It finally hit store shelves December 9, 2007.

Wow. Quite an interesting history. Just out of curiostiy, what made you choose the Pure tileset, rather the the Pure tileset update or Pure tileset update extreme?

JayeM adds End of Time to the QDB, it gains relatively good reception,

Reletivly good reception!? People loved it! And judging from the size of the help thread for it, people frequintly got stuck on it.

And by the way, what are you adding to the final boss? And you should make the map for the boss dmap black. It looks kind of funny to see the little dot representing Link zoom across the minimap every time you hurt him.
