Pineconn: Level 9 F1 has 2 rows of 6 screens going across. The there are two other screens below that in the third row. So I'm assuming that it must screen 31 and 32. That's where I'm have problems getting in. It seems I need one more key also. Thanks Great quest!

Damn Zora's training ground! Been stuck there for two days! I can get to the top left corner's healing place (sometimes), but always die in the next or the following room. Damn, it's hard.

Have you brought a potion into it yet? And did Pineconn change it so that the doors are all shutters?

Um... How do you get to the chest in room 64 of level 3? tried everything but nothing work (yes I boomered the crystal and cant get back to chest), Please Help

Yes, all doors are shutters... I do have a 2-portions potion, but I want to keep at least one portion for the last leg.

I have 9 hearts and the 2nd sword. If I read back in this thread, Pineconn refers to the blue tunic, do I need that to go through? If so, where could that be?

Everybody reading this, please download the 1/11/08 update!

The red room is 14, the green room is 75. As you can see, the first digit corresponds to the row (which goes horizontal), and the second digit corresponds to the column (which goes vertical).

Gotcha.

From the intro room of Level 9, go N, W, down the stairs, W, and complete the block puzzle to go north. Keep going north until you can no longer, then go E, N, E, S, and E. In this room, manuever yourself through the warps to the western door of F1. Enter the door, and you'll be in the portion of the dungeon you need to be in. 😊

As bobrocks95 said, having a full potion will help greatly. If you simply cannot get through, tell me so.

(Actually, this room is 46. 😉)

You need to walk across the falling platforms as quickly as possible. When you get to the last tile (or the second-to-last one), use the ladder to go across the pit. Grab the key in the chest and use the boomerang to lower the blocks to get back to the door.

The Blue Tunic is in a cave in the snowy mountain. You'll want to look for a cave with two shields next to the entrance (the cave entrance is a few screens due west of Level 4). Hopefully you're using 2.10.

The only problem is that Vista users must use 2.5 to play any quests (since 2.10 and below don't work for them). But Vista is a miserable excuse for an OS, or so I've heard, so hopefully XP is still much more popular.

Ah, I forgot to answer:

I believe it was LttH v1.0.1 that featured shutters in Zora's Training Ground. I've gotten some complaints that it was far too easy (and that people would cheat by staying in the doorway). So I changed it.

Two things. First, Vista is 10,000 times better of an operating system than XP is. Second, I think you were getting more complaints about the training ground be too hard than too easy.

Some people complained it was WAY too easy, and other complained it was WAY too hard. Difficult to please there...
And please, let's not start an OP fight, because that's a war that no one can win at the moment.

Well...

Thanks Pineconn - you got some great creative ideas in this quest. Excellent Job!

Thank you. Many of the puzzles' credit goes to Dan Furst, though.

I don't know what to do about the Training Ground. I suppose I'll make it slightly easier for the next update.

Well, with both the tunic and the 2nd sword, I did it on 2nd try with the potions. But it was freakin' impossible without the tunic. Maybe there should be a guy that says "You need better offense and defense to pass this trial" or something of the sort...

I'm impressed that you were able to get through Level 4 without the Blue Tunic, though. But there was an info guy in the field that hinted that there was an item in that cave that you should've gotten. But regardless, I'm happy you were able to pass through the Training Ground.

well, I had been in the blue tunic cave, but I thought I was missing an item to go through it. Figures out I had everything I needed, just did not figure out that therer was a bombable wall in there.

Hello,

Is there anything to do before you enter level 5? I got the three keys and opened level 5 but can not go very far into it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Eddie 😎

Well, recall that this is the first real multi-floored dungeon. Perhaps you need to fall in order to get the visible key in B1, room 64?

Oh, and to whom it may concern:

No more tricks, no more tomfoolery! Just a plain scroll! You can look forward to this in LttH 1.2.1, which won't be released until a few minor bugs are brought to my attention.

Hello,

I am running windows 2000 Advanced server and Zelda2.1. When i try to start this quest after going throuhg the story it just stops and zelda closes.
Help

Are you playing it in windowed mode or fullscreen mode? Zelda Classic is much more stable in fullscreen mode. If you're running it in windowed mode, check out [these] instructions to make it run in fullscreen mode. In a nutshell, create a shortcut to Zelda Classic. Then, right-click the shortcut, and using [this] pic as a guide, type in -fullscreen at the end of the target.

If you're currently running it in fullscreen when it crashes, try using -windowed at the end of the target instead.

If none of these solutions work, please tell me so.

You give me too much credit. 😊

All of you who dislike the don't-reflect-the-fireball-with-the-mirror-shield rooms can dump your hate on me, though.

Hello,

Thank you for you help. I tired both methods i.e. fullscreen method - which would not work and the windowed method which would take me through the story but at the end crash. I am running windows 2000 advance server.I am running Zelda Version 2.1 build 0.
Again thank you for your reply

Pineconn, I must be missing a key, because I have zero and I cannot get past the key locks blocking my path to the right where you fall to the level below where another key is. I got the key from the hidden passage and the training grounds. Is there another? Thanks.

Eddie 😎

No no no no no, that's not a lock block, that's a push block that you can push only down. I suppose that they do look sort of similar...

Dan Furst wrote:You give me too much credit. 😊

You modest thing, you.

The room I am talking about has two lock blocks blocking my path to the right and there are tiles that look like X's that I assume will allow me to fall below to get another key? Thanks.

Eddie 😎

Pineconn, I am in a similar situation as Merlim402. I have completed the first four levels and am now stuck at the beginning of level 5. I got the keys from the heavens, training ground, and the swamp?. However, I don't have enough keys to get any where in level 5. I went back through level 4 and am sure I got all the keys based on reading one of your posts. I need to get passed the lock blocks to be able to fall through and get the key near the down only push block in the sub-level. Can you please help me? I'm pulling my hair out over this and I thought the training ground was very difficult without the shutter type doors, so your update will be impossible for me.

PS This is my very first post ever so if I have made or will make mistakes I'm sorry.

The man in the lake said that the 3 keys needed are found in the Heavens ("Heavens Trail"😉, in the Zora's Training Ground, and in a cave found in the lake. You didn't use that first key (the one in Heavens Trail) in Level 4, did you?

As a picture reference:

This screen will take you to the leg of Heavens Trail that you need to be in:

It's official, the LttH v1.2.1 update will have less enemies in the Training Ground. I can't believe I was persuaded to make it more difficult.

Nooo, Don't do that! that would make it eazy peazy japaneasy. (/me waffles)

for the key in the heavens for dungeon 5, could you not put a block stopping you until you beat level 4 using boss flags (or whatever)?

Thanks for the follow ups. Nice quest! I have a question; I have found the other key I needed for level 5 and have explored all I can and can go no further. I have received the hook shot and I now have 2 keys. What to do next? Thanks.

Eddie 😉

Pineconn, I have been to all three of the locations you listed, I mistakenly said swamp instead of the cave at the lake. I did use the "heaven trail" key in level 4, but then when I completed level 4 I got the key just outside the boss room by killing the enemies. The only thing I didn't get in level 4 was the chest you need the flippers to reach. I even got the key by cutting away the curtain. Could opening the main entrance to level 5 have some how used two keys instead of one?
