To be perfectly honest, I'm just not willing to do it, even if it saves a life.

Did you eat enough before you gave blood?

I've never actually given blood. My experiences with blood loss have to do with medical tests and injuries.

But I'd really rather the person die. I remembered walking up to the door to school, and seeing this fat little baby on the blood drive picture saying "Did you save my life?"

I was seething angry for the rest of the day.

^^Seriously, someone as big as you should be able to give two packets at a time.

I only get tired and sleep for 10-12 hours after I give blood.

Glenn, how can that make you angry, because they guilt trip you into giving blood? What's wrong with that?

As big as me? I'm just barely over heavy enough to give blood.

But yeah, I hate their guilt trip tactic, plus I know the kid is probably going to grow up to be a rotten person.

I gave blood in my senior year of high school for extra credit really, but wouldn't mind doing it again. Needles have never bothered me. And I barely felt dizzy afterwards. And also deathbyhokie, I'm a A+ blood type, so sorry man.

I kinda have the same thing with this. It's been 4 months, and that's the image we always get shown whenever any news report, any paper, any website or any poster mentions her. This may sound awful but I HATE THIS F**KING PICTURE. Oh, I tell you what's really irritating. There are posters asking her to 'look into my eyes'.

Ok.

Eh?

That eye is pretty cool, but I could see it getting overused. Why do they keep mentioning her? Why's she so important?

phattonez wrote:So then I didn't give red and white blood cells?

I don't remember what all is in platelets/plasma. I've not donated since 1993 (because of all the medications I've been on thru the years since).

Do a google 😊

Platelets and plasma do not contain red and white blood cells, but I'm just trying to figure out if they took whole blood donation too or if they can even do that, I'm guessing not but maybe they took the whole blood first and then the plasma and platelets.

Wikipedia: Madeleine McCann disappeared on the evening of Thursday, 3 May 2007 in the resort of Praia da Luz in the Algarve, Portugal, just days short of her fourth birthday. The event has since generated international media attention with controversy surrounding the Portuguese-led police investigation and the actions of Madeleine's parents.

The British girl was on holiday with her parents and siblings when she disappeared from an apartment in the central area of the resort. Madeleine's parents have said that they left her unsupervised in a ground floor bedroom with her two-year-old twin siblings while they ate at a restaurant about 120 metres away.

The initial investigation by the Guarda Nacional Republicana, the first police to be called to the crime scene, concluded that she had been abducted. After further investigation, the Polcia Judiciria (Portuguese criminal investigation police) subsequently stated that there was a strong hypothesis that she might have died in her room. During the investigation there were a number of unconfirmed claimed sightings of Madeleine in Portugal and elsewhere and additional scientific evidence was obtained.

Police investigating her disappearance admitted on 17 August that the investigation was nowhere near a breakthrough. However, on 7 September, Kate and Gerry McCann, Madeleine's parents, were named as formal suspects (arguidos) in the investigation. Despite this, the McCanns flew back to the UK on 9 September.

The investigation involved the cooperation of the British and Portuguese police and demonstrated the differing methodologies employed by each, with regard to such aspects as the amount of information released to the public and the legal status of those involved in the case. The disappearance and its aftermath are notable for the breadth and longevity of the media coverage. This was initially due to the active involvement of the parents in publicising the case and to several awareness-raising campaigns by international celebrities and, latterly, to the interest that arose from the parents being named as suspects.

Read all about it. It's been pretty much the front page of the newspapers ever since it happened, and it's really getting old, horrible as that sounds.

I can see it getting old, but why do they have to keep showing her picture? Just a cheap way to get sympathy. Really, that's so disrespectful to keep showing that, let her have her dignity.

As far as I can tell, there's only a limited number of pictures of her, and they just keep showing the one that has the most impact. Of course the more they use it, the less impact it has and the more irritating it becomes...

BTW, Happy Birthday DarkDragoonX. ^_^ I don't like to litter the forum index with birthday threads, due to the limited discussion within, but the thought is there, at least. May the (remainder of ) the day bring nothing but mirth and wealth in all its forms. 😊

It's almost 1:30am and instead of sleeping I'm doing homework that isn't due until Tuesday. Thing is though I'm gonna have to go back and read the sections because I'm just skimming through each part so I can answer the homework questions.

Tomorrow is gonna be fun.....

What time do you have to wake up tomorrow?

It's so dark, I feel my eyes just dying a little every second that I keep doing this.

I have the day off so I plan on sleeping in. My dog tries to wake me up early she's going to get a pillow thrown at her.

What's annoying me is I can't find the answer to two questions I have left. Someone asked about one the other night and our instructor was gonna post something on blackboard for us when he found the answer but he never did. Guess I'll bring it up Monday because I'm ready to fall asleep and if I have to read more page about the nervous system I'm gonna throw my book out the window.

You could always Google it. Like every other student.

I'm having a whale of a time trying to get eMule and uTorrent to work properly on my new connection. It's the port forwarding I'm having fun with. I've tried the eMule forums, portforward.com and god knows what else, but nothing seems to make sense or work. Oh, the fun I'm having.

Also: I can't seem to get custom models to work on my Steamed version of Half-Life 2, which sucks because I'd fallen in love (in a non-romantic way) with the custom reload animation of this bad boy.

I love my new internet.

Figured out the custom models problem I was having with HL2. Still working on the port forwading thing. If anyone wants to lend a hand with that, I'll happily let them thrash me in HL2Deathmatch in return.

Darth, you made me laugh like a little girl for a half of a second!! Soooo funny.

Oy. I feel like posting this again:
