Eh, yeah, I guess I could've made it more difficult to get the Red Tunic... I guess I got a little easy there...
Level 8 isn't quite as bad as Level 7. It's a bit more linear, focusing on action rather than scavenging. But there are still plenty of puzzles and keys. 😊
Hey, I've used 2 keys in level 8 to remove dark cloud barriers, I need a 3rd afaik. Any ideas on where such a key would be?
Sorry sorry sorry!
Try one of the following three locations, in order of decreasing likelihood:
F1:35. From the entrance, go up, left, left, stairs, right, right, down, right, and up. It's a linear path from here (but there's a puzzle or two!).
F3:10. From the boss room, go left. Linearity!
F5:54. Get to the fifth floor (there's only one way). Go down and right. After a puzzle thing, it's only a hop, skip, and a jump away.
well i liked end of time dx so much I picked up link to the heavens, I made it to level 4(crystal shrine) with the second sword and the blue tunic and got the key for the first room but its not working! please help!
*sigh* Please tell me which 2.5 build you are using.............
I am using the lost isle build, not sure if that is 2.5 but its the only build that works on my computer right now.
You'll likely encounter problems, I wouldn't use anything but the latest build (if you can't work 2.10 or older) as I've personally tested that and found only 1 show stopping bug. Pineconn has a work around for the bug but dunno if he likes sharing that version >.>"
well i tried installing/running 2.1 again but it still instantly crashes for me, guess im done with zc
Latest can be gotten from http://shardstorm.com/
Pineconn,
First off, let me say thanks for creating an awesome game. I recently discovered ZC and I've become HOOKED doing these quests.
I'm stuck on level 5. I have the hookshot, the flippers, and the big key. I discovered the third entrance, but I don't have a key to unlock the first door from that entrance.
One room I think may have the key is the room with four moveable torches. I can't quite figure out the purpose of this room, although I did discover 20 rupees in the water. Is there some combination here that gives the key?
EDIT: of course, 2 minutes after posting, I find the key down the first stairs near the first entrance, using the flippers.
Room with 4 torches = suck
you move the 4 torches and dive where there line of site crosses to get the 20 money.

All right, I sent you a "fixed" version. Just so you know, you can run 2.10 on Vista/7.
Hey Pineconn, first off I just wanted to say you have a great quest. Second I think I might be a bit stuck. I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if its something about the game. In level 9 when you come to the room with 2 blue knights and 1 red knight and you've lost use of all items I can not beat the knights at all. I've watched a video walkthrough and know you have to reflect fireballs to hurt them and get the fire boomerang, but I have tried this almost ten times and have never once injured one of the knights. Am I doing something wrong or is there anything you can do to help me get the fire boomerang?
i'm very happy that it was released, I truly enjoy playing Link to the Heavens and that I have a load of fun.
Man, I was on a roll, too.....
I'm stuck in level 4. I have the magic boomerang and the raft, but I am in room 74 I think it is with the key block and the locked door to the north. I used my last key in the block, so I must be missing a key, and also, I don't know how to get to the locked door, anyway because of the pits in the floor. I'm, stumped....

Well, if you're using a 2.5 beta, then it might be a glitch with that build. However, if you're using 2.10, you can obviously do it. I suggest that you keep at it. If it still doesn't work, please tell me and I'll hook you up with a work-around. But try it again! 😛

I think from now on I'm going to send everyone to this video playthrough. Heh. 😛

Ah. I figured it out. Thanks!
Yeah, I think I'm playing on 2.5, but thats the only version my computer could run for some reason. My friend and I have been playing through this together and he's stuck in the exact same room. For some reason reflected fireballs really just aren't hurting the darknuts at all. We both really want to finish the game up, think you can help us out somehow?
AHDFASDFKJAEFWDCNDM>AFWQEQLWEIJ!!!!! Stupid Darknuts in Zora's training ground!
I give up. There's got to be someway to defeat the stupid Zora's training ground, but I guess I'm just not good enough....
:'(
Did you try using potions? You can buy them at the shop in Zora's Cave.
Yeah. I even got all the way to the last room, once. But the blue wizrobes and darknuts keep killing me. Actually, I think that without those wizrobes, I'd be fine. or, if you could backtrack to more of the healing tiles besides the first one.
You're using all four healing tile rooms, right? If you are, I can help you in another manner. A cheating manner, but another manner nonetheless. 😛
I loved this quest until level 7, after 6 hours of circling it i didn't find the last key for the wand. After seeing this topic i found out the key is in the goron's mountain? what in gods name is that about? why put a key on the other side of the overworld, the wall said something about it but it should have said in "what mountain", if not then players search the area near the level 7 and when they cant find it they think its something for later, as i thought. Also this contradicts with your quest info in the zip, according to that you said once you enter a dungeon you wont have to get out again to search for keys. After all that i still can't find that old guy popping his head in the goron mountain, i think its because i'm using v2.5. A great quest ruined for such a small thing.
So you missed the wall panel in the very first room of Level 7? I don't think I could have been more obvious with the hint:

And the man is here:

No i didn't miss it, "on top of a mountain", it does not say on which mountain, and since all other levels had the keys in their surroundings its very hard to guess it meant on the other side of the map. When i checked all over the graveyard for any such man and didn't find it i reckoned its something meant for after this level. The wall could have said something like "on top of a mountain far away from here", would be much better.
I found the key now but there was no old man popping his head, the man was pre-whacked and the door open. I just went in every door in the goron mountain until i found it.
Anyhow, i didn't post to bash the quest, its meant as a healthy criticism. This quest is the best i've played, very well done, original and challenging. Its actually better than most of the early official zelda games.
Yeah, the healing tiles are really helpful. It's really just once you get to the left side of the dungeon, with the blue wizrobes and darknuts, plus the shutter doors that don't open back up so I can't backtrack... I have one last thing to try, though, so we'll see, because I'd rather not cheat.
And I second that this is probably the best quest out there, and may be even better than some of the offical games (cough cough oracles). How do you design your dungeons? They are very detailed and intricate (read: awesome).
EDIT: YEAHHH!!! I beat it (finally!) Wow, that was the most difficult key to get ever!
I got the same problem as xfer7, i too played this with 2.5 cause i didn't pay attention to the info. Stuck in level 9 cause fireballs wont hurt knights in v2.5. Is there any way around this perhaps?
