Okay, I feel stupid... I can't seem to find the key that is supposed to be "directly" outside the dungeon, and I don't feel like going through 68 pages of this thread to find the answer. (yay laziness?) Can anyone give me a hint or something? :S
Are you talking about level 4? It has something to do with one of the two rooms you can access, a wall, and something in your inventory 😃

I got to the end boss, and I got to a point where I'll be on the platform for about 5 seconds, then I teleport and fight two super darknuts, and this just keeps repeating. I don't see what I'm supposed to be doing.
And the part in the endboss with the boulders is kinda dumb... I'm getting killed without even touching them.
Okay, I know your problem. When you get to the platform, look around. You should see a boomerang (?) switch over the acid. When you activate it, step onto the portals to continue this final puzzle sequence of the boss. (Oh, and you have to defeat a final, final Fire Gleeok. 😛)
I must be blind because I can only find 2 of the 4 keys in the overcast heavens.
All right, I feel like a fool for missing those switches. That part was kinda fun now. Too bad the download I had was apparently the old version that cuts right to the end credits after beating the boss.
Could I get a link to the latest version?
EDIT: Also, I noticed in a video of this game, improved SNES style sound effects. Is that part of the newest version, and if not, how can I get it?
Also, is there a way to save without killing yourself? That was one of the reasons I had over 100 deaths... and purposefully killing myself to get back to the start of the dungeon with more hearts. Suicide is actually quite helpful.
The ending sequence should be this:
Kill the Fire Gleeok -> big dramatic chord -> Vaati's final words -> Volcanic Wasteland turns back to Hyrule Castle -> credits. After the credits you should be able to go to Hyrule Castle.
To get the sound effects I have in my quest videos, first locate the file "sfx.dat" in your ZC folder and rename it to... anything else. Then download [this]. Put it in your folder (make sure it is named "sfx.dat"😉.
And, haha, if you want to save without killing yourself, press "F6". 😉

This is a great quest. It could have been released on GBA and fit right in.
Do you get one of the keys to access Lvl. 4 for beating the Zora's Training Grounds? I wouldn't go through it if I only get a Heart Piece.

Well, I'm stuck in level 3. I just found the ladder, but it might not be working for some reason? Am I supposed to use the ladder to cross the holes near the entrance? If so, it's not working... If not, how am I supposed to get the candle?
Sounds like a compatibility issue. What version of ZClassic are you using? This quest was developed in 2.10.
Yeah, you're right, I switched to a different build and now everything's running smoothly. I'm using a 2.11 build instead of the regular 2.10 because I'm running Linux, and I have to use Wine instead of the Linux build (long, complicated story). Anyway, thanks, I'm loving this quest so I'm going to get back to it 😊

this quest was so good; too hard but good, to bad I lost the quest file somewhere and now I can't play it anymore :S I almost got to level 6..oh well

I've just conquerred ZC crash problem during the end roll, by switching to 2.10 DOS version.
Now I can beat the last boss with almost no damage after killing him many times!

Level 2: Have Gauntlets + Whistle + spare key.
There is a room in the upper left section that I can not find an entrance to. It leads to a portal in the next room and that room is next to where you got the Whistle or gauntlets from 2 red darknuts.
Hmm... your goal is the bottom-leftmost room, which has a portal to the rooms you need to access. I assume you were able to find the boss door; just go down, left, down, and left from there.
...Just in case you weren't able to get to the boss door, from the entrance of Level 2, go up, up, left, down, stairs, left, down, and down.
