Oh, I'm sure if you really thought about it, you could come up with plenty of things worse than spoiled milk. But let's not go there.
So...
Okay, so during final exams today, during the break, someone dropped a stink bomb in the Commons, a "square" with vending machines and such. It was really, really crowded too.
Fun.....
Ah, stink bombs and smoke bombs... How dull my high school experience would've been without them.
You know what kinda bugs me? The way pranks are taken so seriously these days. It's like, these days, you pull a high school prank, they'll call the cops on you. Back when my parents were growing up, though, pranks just meant detention or Saturday school or whatever.
@ Breaker: ...I hope it's nothing major. I got my fingers crossed.
@ Phattonez and the spoiled milk: Hey, it's not a total loss! You bravery went up by a few points, I'm sure [/blatant persona 4 reference]
And stink bombs? Ugh...that's not very considerate...
But pranks aren't all that bad. My high school had like...one big one a year, right at the end. One time, a whole class all brought water pistos and soaked the teacher and half the school. Then, the year after, there was a food fight started by some guys in their last year.
In my last year though, nthere was no pranks (unless you count that a bunch of guys used the straws and tapioka (SP?) balls from bubble tea that some students were selling, and used them as projectile lauchers this one time). My firends and I were THIS close to asking/bribing the secretary to go onthe PA on the last day and say, in her totally nromal voice "Please pay attention to this important announcement..." and then put "We Ain't gonna Take It" on the school PA for a bit. ...we never got around to it though. 😞
oh my god im so bored!! im alone in the barracks waiting to clear post and get out..on another note, today marks five years in the army. I was already involved in agn for years before I joined...god damn, how long have I been here now?
Ummmm...8 years, apparently.
Heh, long time.
Not yet eight—looks like he joined in August of '01, so that'd make it more like seven and two thirds years.
Time goes by too quickly. At this rate, I'll be dead someday.
That's a pretty good bet. I'd place money on it.
I'm tired. Midterms and finals killed me. I had AP Calc and Honors Physics on Tuesday and I've yet to recover from the pain.
*sigh* I wish I could have taken AP Calc this year. Pre-calc was boring.
Yeah, know what you mean Pineconn. Had Honors Sociology and Honors Precalc today, and I've got AP Literature and AP Chemistry tomorrow.
I actually studied for my chemistry final. Even if it was only for an hour or so, that's still like a first for me.
Honors Sociology? AP Chemistry? Jeez, our school really just gives the meat and potatoes of a high school curriculum. Your typical maths, sciences, social sciences, Englishes, Spanish (I to IV), and French (I to IV). (Band, choir, art, business, etc.)
The only advanced classes we have are AP Calc, AP Lit, AP Language, and Honors Physics (okay, and symphonic band over concert band... and Madrigals for the choir folks). We actually do AP work in Honors Physics and Spanish IV, but they technically aren't AP courses.

He had another name before the one he currently has. Also, Tony, we're starting to get old man.
The_Amaster wrote:*sigh* I wish I could have taken AP Calc this year.
I wish my high school had AP Calc, so I wouldn't have to taken these Calculus courses in college. What a waste of my time...
Agreed, I still have bad memory of opening milk, pouring it out, and finding that it had turned into yogurt. And not good yogurt either.
Edit: Whoops, didn't notice there was another page. 😊

Your high school has a separate choir for madrigals? Huh. Do you have a jazz choir?

Eh, happens to the best of us.
Okay, so I've got an extra TV lying around my apartment. I've had it for a while, I got it free from an old roommate, but I just don't know what to do with it. I first took it because hey, you really can't argue with "free," but now I'm all like "Alright, I've got an extra TV, now I can..." and then I draw a blank. I feel like I should be able to come up with a use for it, but nope, got nothing.
Get cable. Hook something up to it. Experiment with it's inner workings and see what you can do with it. The possibilities are endless.
Hey, Rock, you could send it to me. 😃

Hmmm. There's the main concert choir that most choir members are in, Advanced Women's Choir for... advanced women (or, really, the women better than concert choir but not good enough to make Mads), and then Madrigals. There's not a jazz choir (but we have a jazz band).
Gee, you learn something new every day. Today I learned that the universe is 46.5 billion light years in radius. I really feel like I should've known that earlier, but I always figured that since it's 13.7 billion years old, that would make the radius of what we can see 13.7 billion light years. Turns out, I didn't take into account that the universe is constantly expanding - so things are now much farther away than they were when they gave off the light we see.
I find it kind of funny that scientists use the age of the universe to meassure its size. How can you be sure of its age?
And, this has always puzzled me. What's at the end of the universe? A wall? Nothing? Is there an end?
I feel compelled to say that it's nothing. A complete and total vacuum. Not even a single molecule out there.
... ...
Epic.
Or it may possibly be "spherical", in the sense that once you go far enough one way, you start coming back the other. Because of dimensions and crap.
There may be absolute nothingness - no matter, not even empty space. Or, as Amaster pointed out, you may have to contend with the curvature of spacetime, which results in you being redirected to your original starting point. Or, as new evidence suggests, the edge of the universe could be made up of another universe entirely. Basically, the theory is that there are other universes out there, with their own big bangs, and that one of them has potentially collided with our own (seriously, this theory is based on actual data gathered about the universe). Who knows?

I love this thread. One post has me trying to grasp the complex nature of the universe and our theories about it, and the next has random humor.
But on the subject of universes, if there are multiple universes, why not just say theres opne universe with empty space in between? Wouldn't the universe simply be defined as "every thing that exists as we know it"?
Which brings up another question. If there are other universes, would they have different laws of physics? Would stuff that's impossible here be common there?
As you can see, I like looking at stuff from a hypothetical stand point. 😃
Wow, I love that smily.
I finally completed all the missions in Grand Theft Auto III this morning. Still I need to find all the hidden packages.
I'm also trying to decide if GTA:IV is worth buying (as if I had the money to spend).
Yeah, other universes coule have very different physical laws. You should read Asimov's "The God's Themselves". It's all about a paralel universe where, just by fluke, the weak nuclear force is slightly stronger than in ours, and so the stars are rapidly exhausting their fuel and the inhabitents are desperatly trying to decide what to do.
But many of our inherent physical laws are simply a result of the particular way in which our big bang or whatever happened. If it was slightly different, we might have had four space dimensions to travel through, instead of just three.

Is it a fluke that I had a dream about the sun going out and the core of the Earth for some reason kind of exploding? Yet people were still walking around like it was nothing instead of just dying right away.
You know what would be awesome? Being able to turn gravity on and off in rooms around your house. Think of the possibilities.
