Anyone else meet anyone else?

Given Amaster's obsession with HG2G I would assume so. It certainly was back when I was macweirdo42.
This may be the simplest physics question you've ever had.
When you are working with equations, how do you differentiate between power, pressure, and density? They all are basically the same symbol, but the one I'm having trouble with is pressure and trying to differentiate it from power. P and p look exactly the same.

It's standard practice amongst engineers to denote power as a 'W' with a dot above it, signifying that it is the derivative of work (which is what power is).
Density is rho, written more fluidly/curly than a regular 'p'.
So you have 'p', rho, and w dot.
Dang, I'm angry right now. This morning, I finally beat the last boss of Trauma Center: Under the Knife. So I was playing the "original sin" missions. My brother asked if he could play, so I have it to him. The first thing he did was erase my save file. So frustrating.
Ok, so I have no STDs or AIDS. I have esophagitis. My esophagus is so swollen and full of sores that it hurts like a motherfucker to eat anything. Life is great. That's sarcasm for the dense.
Well congratulations on your lack of AIDS. =\
I bet the words "you have esophagitis" never sounded so good.

And this is why I never share with my brother. :unhappy: Sorry to hear that, Russ.
I wonder what "time" is worth, monetarily. ... ... To charge a person money based on time invested in something, and then lost, ... I can't help but wonder how much that's worth, based on any number of variables, such as age, the quality and quantity of that time, and the subject by which the time had been lost, etc.
Then again, they could charge you yourself for the opportunity to expand the horizons of what your new found time could buy you. 😛 Lulz.
I just opened up a new area in the WoW Server I work on. It's pretty awesome. You've got the remnants of the Hyjal Summit Battle fighting with a command camp to cleanse the area. They give out dailies, and some pretty amazing new items. I'm very excited.
Russ and Rock Nog:Yeah, DD changed it for me a day or two ago. And the 42 was a HitchHikers reference, yes.
Breaker: Well, hey, could have been a lot worse.
Bel and Phattonez: Yeah, similar problems in chemistry between m for molality and M for molarity, as well as H standinf for enthalpy (wtf?)
*sigh* My brother corrupted my iPod library by yanking it out while it was syncing. Now I get to spend the next hour backing up music manually with a program to Memory Alpha and The Monolith (two of my numerous jumpdrives), and re-copying it.
Doesn't the H refer to the fact that enthalpy measures heat?
Yeah, that's what I was taught, but than why not call it heat? I mean, I know there's some distinction, but it seems a tad finicky.
Heat is simply the measure of the transfer of energy from one system to another. Thus, you can't measure the energy of a system with heat, because there is no heat if no energy is being transfered in or out of the system. Enthalpy is more a measure of the potential heat of a system.
But that's my point. It's just semantics. The only reason why we confine heat to only being an energy transfer is because that's the only way we can measure it.
It's like someone en just said "Well, we need a name for heat when it's not actually doing anything. Ummm, how about...enthalpy?"

Well, you're the random internet dude. Clearly you know more than the physicists who pioneered thermodynamics.
Well think of it like potential energy. Like, if I'm holding a ball two meters off the ground, technically, it doesn't actually have any energy. However, we can calculate how much energy it would have if I were to let it fall to the floor, and we call that potential energy. You can't just say the ball has x amount of energy, because that energy doesn't technically exist unless I let go of the ball, but at the same time, using a term to refer to that imaginary energy can be a useful tool in doing calculations.
Likewise, while enthalpy is related to heat, they are, in fact, different concepts, and it's useful for calculations to keep them separate.
Yeah, alright, I can see that.
it's still hard to grasp intuitivly though, which slows down my work sometimes.*shrug*
It'd be a much more confusing concept if we used heat to refer to both the energy in a system and the amount of energy that transfers between systems.
Yeah, but for heat transfer we use Delta H, or change in enthalpy, anyway. So what's the point of heat?
Enthalpy is the energy within a system, and Delta H is the change, so where does heat fit in? That's the only part I'm confused about.

I'm angry right now. I've been playing Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2. I was on the last X mission. It's hard as heck. So I got through the whole thing perfectly. Then, I messed on the very last step. The vitals went straight from 99 to 0, and I lost. It's so frustrating! 😡
One of my favorite words is shilling. It just sounds like little pieces of metal. I love it.
I like the word hydrodynamic. It sounds fun. O:
Treatise is a nice word. It sounds like treaty, but it's like a paper. I like to drop it into the titles of my paper,s just for the effect it produces.
I remember when I thought the word 'License" was actually "Lison." It just sounded so perfectly reasonable and correct to say "Drivers Lison."
So happy 20th, everyone. New President, huzzah. Sad thing is, I'm watching the event on TV, showing the Capital Building, and the Mall near the Washington Monument, ... and all through this, I can't stop thinking of Fallout 3. Damn! I mean, I keep expecting to see the place where the Brotherhood is setting up their camp, or all of the trenches dug into the area. But of course, the area wasn't done precisely to scale. Not at all. In Fallout 3, the White House was practically set in a commercial block zone, rather than on a sprawling lawn, and was only twice the size of a normal two story family house in terms of footage area. Just a crater, really.
By the way: Krispy Kreme is giving away a free Doughnut in honor of the occasion.
However, We have a problem. It's quite shocking, I think. I'm surprised that this was able to happen. It's a bit extreme, don't you think?
mmm... abortion donuts.

Damnit Beldaran, took the words right out of my mouth.
I know I'm going to get an abortion today!
... I mean a donut.
