Hush up, lackey, an' get back to work! Don't ye be speakin' out of line again, mate, er else I'll have yer booty!

Er, wait, we be both on the same rung! Arrr..... I'll be swabbing the poop deck for a good long time, I will... 😛irate:

Heh, yeah.

As I see it, AGN is kinda unofficialy layered as so.

-Mega Veterans, the guys around since the dawn of time, err, AGN.
-Veterans, people around 5 to 7 years who still talk and participate and stuff.
(Note: the line between Vets and Mega Vets is pretty thin)
-Midbies, people from 2 to 5 years who are really active and stuff. Prime examples: Pineconn and myself,
-Newbies, who although are fairly new establish themselves as fairly coherent and contributing members to the community. People like Blisspath and Bobrocks95.
-n00bs, people who we can slightly disdain and look down on but can't truly ridicule because they aren't actively annoying. A lot of people around ZC help.
-LightningZ and kin.

For the record I just kinda made this up as I went along.

Just out of curiosity, am I the only one around here who's interested in Conway's Game of Life?

I certainly used to be. Better known by the name of LifeGenesis, it was interesting to see the possibilities you could get with a cell pattern and a seemingly natural set of rules to operate on that pattern. Not only could you have the Glider you've got pictured above, but you can make an Eater among a multitude of other things. I was fascinated by what would eventually happen to a straight line of cells, running from start to finish and each run starting with one more cell in the row than the run before.

In my opinion, it would be more interesting if they were able to eliminate the edge effect, most simply by wrapping movement through the edges from one side to the other and from top to bottom and vice versa.

There are far better versions of Conway's Game of Life out there than LifeGenesis. Many have absolutely, mind-bogglingly huge playing fields that virtually eliminate the border issue. The actual Game of Life itself dates back to 1970. Seriously interesting stuff, in my opinion.

So we don't consider any people oldbies?

Actually thats what I considered vets, but oldbies seemed a tad...derogatory.

So... which part of that list would I fall under?

I've been spending more time on other sites lately. I'm signed up in several leagues in Advance Wars By Web, trying to conquer the world in Shadow Aura, and posting in the Megatokyo forums providing news updates on the war between Anonymous and the Church of Scientology.

Damn this stuff is awesome. Being Jewish, I am generally prohibited from eating all pork and pig-related products. (With the occasional reference to "Kosher for passover ham," being ever so delightful. 🙄 Ha. Anyways,) This stuff, however, has given my family and relatives a run for our taste buds. The stuff is incredible on sammiches like you wouldn't believe.

Unfortunately, it's $3.50 a pack, and there are only about fourteen slices, if even, in the pack. Still worth it though. A sandwich just isn't a sandwich without 'em.

Sounds like the same thing as tofu dogs, which really aren't too bad if you've been deprived of meat for a long time.

I just want to say, never in a million years would I have guessed you were Jewish. And I am so sorry you don't get to enjoy the wonder that is bacon.

*Blinks* ... Yeah, ... I'm a bit ... um ... vague, over here on the other side of the internet. :blah: I'm conservadox. Not that hardcore streimel paios tefillin (And other words Firefox doesn't recognize.) kind of stuff, but a fairly observant, understand member of the Jewish people. There has never before been a more punk-ass vigilante |-|4><x3R j00 before.

But really, have you ever had the pure blissful experience of my mom's famous passover noodle soup? You don't know what you're missing either, so I don't even have the option of holding it under your nose and going "Mmm, smells delicious, doesn't it. But you can't have it. :sb: " Hell no. Couldn't/wouldn't do it.

I <3 my fake bacon.

:P well, more power to you ST.

But me, I am going to chow down on my real bacon.

Let me tell ya, nothing beats good hungarian cooking. My grandma (and by extension, my mom), make this AWESOME chicken stew on round noodles (I believe it's called Paprikash Chirkeh...Of at least that's sort of how it's pronounced). It's so freaking good that I shovel down as much as I can chew, and end up groaning from an overstuffed stomach afterwards. 😃 I even made it once or twice. The noodles require a alot of attention to make sure they all come out in different shades of brown, but...:P definetely worth the time. especially since one pot lasts for at least 2 meals (with 4 people eating).

I am going to get completely raped this coming week. I have to take two major exams (which will each require a substantial amount of preparation and are 40% and 50% of my grades in the two classes), write and turn in a 15 page paper (for my math seminar), begin grading midterms for another class here (at least I get paid for this), finish a stats problem set, and then complete a take home midterm.

Yeah, my life is going to blow for the next 7 days. =( After that, I have a lull for about 4 weeks, then I have finals! Actually, I think finals week will be easier for me than this coming one though...

Context: makes some statements less funny.

But yeah, your workload sounds like total crap. I have to do a quantitative lab report this weekend... and that's about it.

Taking the SAT tomorrow morning, followed by Prom which I hope can help convince my girlfriend to stay with me, and then the AP Government test on Monday.

Yeah, butterflies in my stomach.

Wow, I fell sorry for everybody taking the SAT. My mom decided it's time to start preparing me for it, and got me a giant SAT Prep book. I am so glad I still have another three of four years before I have to take that monster.

I've never understood or liked using "prep booklets" or even more annoying "prep classes".
Usually I glance over the sample book briefly, but mostly I just go in and take the test cold.

I showed Nanook pictures of all of you and this is what he had to say...

Honestly, I think those SAT Prep books are a load of bull. There's really no way of preparing for the SAT other than getting a good night's sleep and eating breakfast beforehand.

The worst thing about the test is the fact that it's so damn long. It completely causes your brain to have a meltdown and loose all your concentration. Halfway through, I basically just started filling in random bubbles. The questions aren't hard, it's just the length of the stupid test.

I'll take it. 😎

Wow, if that's the SAT Prep, I can't wait to see what the test is like. 😃

I will never get over how cute that dog is. You are so lucky to have a dog like that.

I just want to know how you can get a picture like that to look so good and without the lens getting wet.

So, I don't believe in using any SAT Prep, but maybe that's because I never needed it (I also think it's contrary to the spirit of the SAT - it's supposed to test how much you know, not how well you can learn the test). Obviously prep books are worthless if you only use it the night before, but if you work on it for a few months beforehand I'm sure it's helpful. 13 is way too young to worry about the SAT, though.

Also, if your performance declines so badly on a multiple choice test, all I can say is - good luck in college, you'll need it. Last quarter I took two 3 hour long tests with essay and short answer questions in one day followed by two more 3 hour long math tests the next day. And yes, they take the full three hours in some classes.

Zoom does wonders.

Last hospital clinical of the day, six hours of walking around the ER in circles. The whole ER is literally one giant clover so it's more or less a circle.

It better be slow so we can get out of here early.

Oh, it's not the multiple choice that gets me. That's the easiest part, followed by short answers and essays. I could pull an A on an English or Math final, no problem. What broke me on the SAT though, is an entire reading comprehension section about rugs, followed by a strangely worded passage about a run-down house.

IIRC, I did pull an above average score on the SAT. Though I'm kinda kicking myself for glancing and filling on several of them near the end.
