I have yet to play 3rd or 4th which at this point seems ridonkulous. (Yes I just did.) So tonight I will be starting 3rd quest. Depending on how bad I suck I will just go through level 1. Hopefully I can find it.

Anyone want to join me? Keep in mind if you haven't played 3rd Quest this is mandatory. Kidding! I'll post about how much I suck after I play tonight. Keep in mind I haven't touched Z1 or even 1st or 2nd quest in like 10 years...

::EDIT::

Week 1 (August 3rd to August 10th)
Complete the First and Second Dungeon

Week 2 (August 11th to August 17th)
Complete the Third and Fourth Dungeon

Week 3 (August 18th to August 24th)
Complete the Fifth and Sixth Dungeon

Week 4 (August 25th to August 31th)
Complete the Seventh and Eighth Dungeon

Week 5 (Sept 1st to Sept 7th)
Complete the Ninth Dungeon (and finish the quest)

As for Fourth Quest:
Week 1 (Sept 1st to Sept 7th)
Complete the first three dungeons

Week 2 (September 8th to September 14th)
Complete dungeons four and five

Week 3 (September 15th to September 21st)
Complete dungeon six (I heard it was VERY long)

Week 4 (September 22nd to September 28th)
Complete dungeons seven and eight

Week 5 (September 29th to October 5)
Complete dungeon nine (and finish quest)

Sound good?

Okay, I'll join in on this challenge.

Nevermind finding the first dungeon, though. [strike]Where the heck do you find the sword?! [/strike]
EDIT: Sorry, I'm wrong. I was thinking of Demo Quest (probably).

(I have tried 3rd quest before, though I did not make it very far. Haven't tried 4th at all, but since it's new to this version that's to be expected)

EDIT: Woo, found Level 1 in 3rd quest!

This schedule can be changed if people begin to fall behind or the majority exceeds these expectations.
God damn it, my schedule makes it too hard to do this shit. I need to just buy another new laptop so I can take one to work and play there during hours off. Or see if the supercard ds2 can handle ZC...

We really need somebody to...schedule QPC. I nominate CJC.

Been years since I played the 3rd quest. Can't say I remember where shit is to be honest. If I have time I might give it another go.

All those in favor: Aye.

Done.

Next order of business: Peanut butter jelly time - What time is it exactly.

Yo yo yo! I finished Level 1! (Got a late start)
Have I ever mentioned how much I hate Goriyas? Most of my deaths were caused by my own stupidity but a good half of them can be attributed to... (prepare for bitching) 5 Blue Goriya Push->Wait Block room. 6 Stalfos 2 in a hard to navigate shutter room, and an assortment of goriyas in a Push->Wait Block room with the whole spiral thing all on the required path so they had to be dealt with after EVERY death. More frustrating than difficult. Had to brush up on my Z1 skillz like where to stand to avoid projectiles. Oh and nice dungeon item: "Here's a book to read while you are gang banged by goriyas."

Death Toll: 22
HP: 4 Hearts
Items: Wooden Sword, Bombs and a friggun book.
Next up Level 2:

ctrl-alt-delete wrote:Also, would I be banned if I confessed to having never played through 2nd quest?

Yes! Actually, I have yet to finish 2nd quest. I figured there'd be more people who hadn't played 3rd and might possibly join in.

I haven't thought about any sort of structure. I figured I would just try for a level a day. If you have any suggestions then by all means.

I guess 2 levels a week would be good for this quest. I say I will try to do a level a night but that pace will probably fall through.

::Updated OP::

I know. I didn't even think about it I just decided I wanted to play 3rd and 4th and figure might want to see if others would want to join. To be honest I forgot how this whole thing was supposed to work and didn't reread your post about it till now.

Geez, I'm out for one day and now I'm master of quests? Blargh!

Anyway, I think that ONE dungeon a week is fair for 3rd quest, because it's so bloody hard. Also, we should be willing to give each other pointers if we're stuck (in spoilers, of course).

For example,
I finally beat the 1st dungeon after 25 (!!!) tries, stuck on the same run of 'must kill to proceed' rooms that Successor was frustrated with. Now... I don't know where the &*$% level 2 is. I found Level 3, and I think I'll give it a try, but with 4 hearts and a sad wooden sword I don't know how well it'll go.
I played the 3rd a while ago but never completed it because of its insane difficulty (by the time I quit, I had about 60 deaths). I managed to come close to beating level 3, but I found it just too much to handle.
However, maybe I should try again, see how far I can get before ragequitting.

You stand very little chance there with your current equipment. From what I recall, there were plenty of Darknuts everywhere, including a room of 8 with shooting statues (That room holds a very helpful item for later on). Try to bring as many bombs as you can and when you are in non-shutter rooms or otherwise don't have to kill all of the enemies to proceed, kill all but one enemy (bubbles don't count as a last enemy here) because then they won't respawn later. Especially helpful on the overworld when you have to deal with the Lynels on Death Mountain.

Yeah, after killing eight Pol's Voice with a wooden sword, I decided to go find some hearts and the White Sword before going back, and in the process I came across Level 2.
Level 2 is WAY easier than Level 1, but you'll need to finish Level 1 first to have enough hearts for the White Sword (Which turns Zol rooms into recharge rooms). It's a good place to grind up some rupees, so I pulled together enough to buy the blue ring and wooden arrow. You'll need the blue candle before you can navigate this dungeon.

And it's got three bosses in it. Seriously, 3rd quest is made of evil!
I also played a little of 4th, but I can't get through the first dungeon (4 has boss keys, and I can't find them). The actual combat is much less severe than 3rd, though, so if you're struggling I recommend switching to 4th for a while to calm down.

I just want to casually stroll through this thread and take this opportunity to say that I beat the 3rd in one day without dying and without using "retry". 🙄

To the Gleeok-enberg! *hits a tree and bursts into flames*

I have to admit I am NOT a fan of this quest. Up to sixty-some deaths, made it through most of Level 3. Made it to the boss and then died, which totally sucks because it's not easy to get there.
I'm down a key, so I'm going to grind to buy one.

This... combined with the ZQuest-based help I needed to give some other players to get through 8th and 9th dungeons... leads me to believe that this quest is just too hard for me.

Have you beat Level 2? Do you have the white sword? Don't try to push on if its too rough. Get prepared.

Yeah, I beat dungeon 2 and bought the blue ring already. Just beat dungeon 3, after finding the key that I missed. Had half a heart left by the time the boss was down, it was a real brawl.

I've already found Dungeon 4 (found it while I was looking for Heart Containers), but I need the whistle to progress further. Guess it's back to aimlessly wandering the overworld.

I did also find Dungeon 8 (I was shocked to come across it, actually), but I am NOT prepared for that.

I'm still looking for Level 2. I found a HC and the White Sword though. Once I find Level 2 I may save it for tomorrow.

Kudos on showing that boss who's... boss...

If you're still looking for Level 2, here's a hint:
Check the screens around where you found the White Sword. If that's not enough:
Dungeon 2 is within three screens of the White Sword.

Finished Dungeon 4. Found Dungeon 7, but I can't enter without the Ladder. So now I need to find Dungeon 5.

For someone who said we should do one level a we you sure are powering through. I found level 2 last night but it was getting late so I quit after I died sooner than I care to admit.

Death toll: 23

Good for you! As for us humans we find it to be a little trying.

Dungeon 5 location hint:
whistle in a place where you can banana leave.
SUCCESSOR wrote:Good for you! As for us humans we find it to be a little trying.

It'll get easier once you get to LV4! (kind of)

I might throw together a 3rd.quest - Mystic Quest special edition and use it as a test to try and get some LP recording working. (I don't know if anyone has recorded it yet.) So we'll see if I can two-peat it! I'll give it a go tonight.

I just started the 3rd quest again and have explored most of the overworld I could, including bombing most of the possible places to bomb and burning most of the trees that are possible to burn. The only places I have left to explore are some of the western woods and Death Mountain. Oh boy, the Lynels will be fun. Also discovered where the Magic Sword is.

Current equipment:

 • Wooden Sword.
 • Magic Shield.
 • Bait.
 • Arrows
 • Blue Candle.
 • Bracelet.
 • Blue Ring.
 • 4 Heart containers.

Despite my earlier gripes, I cannot bring myself to stop playing the game (to the point where I broke my 1 dungeon per week goal marker by playing 8 dungeons.

Just curious... does Dungeon 8 have two items? I missed a couple rooms through the madness of red bubble hell, and I'm hesitant to go through again if there's nothing worthwhile over there.

I do have
The Magic Key
You're on level 8? I finished level 2 which I found to be easier than level 1. Probably because I have the white sword.
Besides bubbles on narrow paths this dungeon was short on annoyances. Only got killed by the Gleeok because the first time I got to it I had only half a heart. Took out the Manhandla with one bomb like a boss! Even with all the fireballs Ghoma is a wuss.

Death Toll: 29
Items: Bow, Bombs, White Sword, Blue Candle, and of course the Bibl... the Book.
HP: 6 Hearts
I'll probably get to Level 3 this weekend.

You were right, Successor, it should be two dungeons a week (one a week is too slow a pace, especially if we're going to get a docket of quests to play during these 'bundle quest' contests). If players fall behind, they can post here and get pointers from others who have pushed ahead or beaten the quest before.

I'll start a thread tomorrow with some guidelines for pacing quests and an event calendar.
EDIT: Whoops, I forgot that CAD already made a rules thread. Good, that saves me the effort. I'm going to edit a calendar for this play-through into my first post of the thread.

(I bring this up mainly because I see that there's another quest thread in this forum from the 11th that fell under the radar)

You just totally gave me an idea for a speed run attempt. 😊
