That TBD business kind of bothers me though, the Japanese Release was just announced as January 24th, so it's possible we might pushed back behind that date... :blah:

So... The two biggest rumors, Internet play and Sonic as a character, have been officially confirmed. Holy crap... There is just absolutely no way that this is not going to be the biggest thing ever.
As for the release date thing, though... I don't know what the Japanese release date tells us. I remember something about how Brawl was going to be released in December for here and Mario Kart would be Q1 2008, and in Europe the situation would be reversed, so it's possible there might be something similar for Japan, but I don't know.

Internet play was never a rumor - they outright confirmed it when they announced the game. Now people were unsure if it was still going in since they hadn't said anything about it since, but that was always the plan.
If Sonic is in the game, then Tails must be in it too, or Knuckles. Oh how I wish...! 😊
But anyways, this game will probably be the biggest thing ever. All the popular Ninty characters + Snake + Sonic + god knows who!
What would they do with Tails' flight mechanism though? Would he jump twice and then Glide like Pit would? Would he be able to "fly" in increments of Five or so like Jigglypuff?

Even I have to admit that this is pretty cool... I was always more of a Sega guy when I was younger, and Sonic in SSB was always kind of a pipe dream. Hell, Sonic fits in a helluva lot better than Snake does.
But god, as if I couldn't wait for Brawl enough already.
Mega Man would have been a cooler addition in my opinion. Never was much of a Sonic fan.

Mega Man would be amazingly awesome... it would have to be the original Mega Man, though, not X... the original would fit in much better.
Very cool news, especially since this is the only upcoming Wii game I'm at all interested in at the moment. Still not enough for me to pay 250$ for another Wii. I paid 200$ for a GC and the last SSB game. 😛

When I saw the thread title, I thought it some kind of hoax. I didn't really think something like this was going to happen, though I guess I should have expected it since Sonic and Mario are already set to appear in a game together for the Olympics.

Well it looks like we will have to wait a bit longer for Brawl. The new release date has been set for February 10, 2008. I can only hope this means that there will be plenty more surprises and maybe they are putting some final touches on other characters that could show up. Either way I can't wait for this one to come out.
I saw it coming a long time ago, but it was still nice to hear it confirmed. I would think Nintendo would put a character in from a few more of their close partners such as Pacman (Namco) and Mega-Man (Capcom) at this rate.
I'll wait however long I have to wait for this game.
after seeing those new gameplay videos...I can safely say that this just might be the greatest game of all time.
And as such, I want the developers to make this game absolute gaming nirvana. They can take as long as they want.
