What's the coolest Zelda setting that WASN'T Hyrule?

Admittedly, I don't like the general direction the series has taken, but I don't necessarily want to give up on it either.

It's a paradox. The Zelda games I really like are some of my all time favorite games, but then there's these others that just kinda... suck ;.;

I have more hope for seeing wonderful games come out of Zelda Classic than the real series at this point, but I'm not giving up on it. I just... I dunno. I'm really keeping my eye out for something different, and I'll give TP another go at some point. Maybe it would be more fun on the Wii (I have the gamecube version, no wii- ask me in a week XD).

I'm kind of interested in the four swords games, although they don't seem to be all that deep puzzle wise, or very long. But they might be somewhat fun.

You didn't like Twilight Princess? I thought it was more like the classic Zelda games but with much more plot. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I just can't bring myself to like WW's overworld, for the reasons stated above. It's not that I don't like the graphic style, I loved it. I didn't mind sailing, either. But the few islands were too small to really be called diverse. There were really only maybe 5 islands that had any real thought put into them. The game really was not finished. I wish Nintendo would realize that the game sold poorly because it was a BAD GAME, not because the graphic style was bad.

I think Wind Waker was a really great game, but I always thought it could've used one or two more "town" islands, and at least two more dungeons. The last two dungeons (the ones where you have a partner) were so amazing - if they continued that trend with a few more, I think Wind Waker would be even higher up on my Zelda list.

As for favorite non-Hyrule settings, I have to go with Termina. Love that game, and it has yet to be topped in my mind.

i picked termina because it was very fun and chalenging when getting stray faries in the temples.

I voted Wind Waker.

Here's my rundown:

Majora's Mask: Very fun, unique world. Swimming in the Great Bay as a Zora was fantastic.

Link's Awakening: It's been a long time since I played this game, so I don't remember it that well. I will admit, though, that I have a bias towards Final Fantasy Adventure in the Game Boy game department. LA just doesn't seem as epic or mysterious to me compared to that gem.

Ages & Seasons: I liked Subrosia. The entire "washed up on the mysterious island" sequence in Ages is a high point for me.

Wind Waker: So much fun! I loved sailing around and finding all the hidden islands in the ocean. I am a sucker for any game that has to do with islands, and this one is my favorite. When I get the chance, I need to try out Phantom Hourglass.

Honestly, Wind Waker had many flaws, but I love the game world. We were cheated with that Triforce fetch sequence, and overall lack of dungeons. I prefer OoT as a whole.

this post got erased so im making it short and direct. if you can't beat MM easily then you simply suck :P

WW has a awesome story but has 0 replay value and the rewards for beating the game are very stupid and pointless... they could have let you start with a upgraded sword, free to roam everywhere with no story based limitations or something o_O and the spin attack i never ever used but it looked cool.

i vote for termina because i enjoyed the awesome puzzles/items/story.

KORIDAI!! Simply because of how awesome the animation for "cutscenes" are! They're like a mixture of crappy high school drawings and anime. Its absolutely glorious.

Well, I've only played 2 Zeldas where hyrule was not the setting, Link's Awakening and Lost Isle, so I'll say Lost Isle's setting. I didn't like Link's Awakening after I saw the ending. There's no excuse for killing all those innocent people after deliberately ignoring all the signs that it was exactly what you were doing/going to do. All to wake up some dumbass flying whale. I should be mad that link was left stranded in the ocean, but considering what he had done preceding that I think he deserved it.

a quest for zelda classic :P i don't think the person realized where talking about official zelda games 😊 and sorry if my last post made anyone angry, its why i hardly post in threads like this.

Well actually I realized that but since the OP did not specify as such, I took the liberty to break the mold.

It's only challenging if you try it on 3 hearts 😃, anyway I just wanted to rant about how much I hated Link's Awakening for its ending. That was seriously fucked up.
