You and 98% of Nintendo fans. I hope they're prepared for heavy usage...

Thank you, nintendo. Marketing genius. Since we already have emulation, why not make it free anyhow?
Great, great, great move. This thing would be worth up to 400 for me, if it's coming with these free titles. Amazing.

Not to get off topic, or poke at people, but you do realize this was an old topic from last year, right? 😊 And Nintendo has yet to disclose any information about the pricing for the games.

Yeah, well someone *cough*franpa*cough* effectively bumped it by posting here almost 6 months after the thread was buried.

Yeah this pisses me the hell off because I was all excited and shit and then I saw my reply and I was all "ORLY WTF" and then I looked at the date and now I'm pissed again.

1. ORLY? What's that mean?

2. It's these blasted n00bs. I'd move to ban them, but that'd just be n00bish and we're back at square one.

3. Here's all the new info you're going to get on the Revolution. Basically, it'll be out in North America before Thanksgiving, Classic Sega titles may also be made available for download (which would kick so much ass it's inconceivable) and that the stand also acts as a power supply for the console.

I hadn't heard of Sega titles possibly coming to the Revolution's Virtual Console service. If it were true, it would certainly give Nintendo another leg up in the next gen console war.

Well, I hadn't either

"Yuji Naka, the designer of Sonic the Hedgehog at Sega, said in an interview with Famitsu, "It's also great that we'll be able to play Famicom and other games via download. I hope Sega games will be playable as well."

I hope this isn't where they are pulling that from, because I don't see how translates to a "maybe". Although, further down the list it does mention the Sega games thing, but it doesn't really say where it got that information come from. After all, this is Wikipedia. I don't think I have to remind everyone about this little Penny Arcade strip. 😊 After that strip, I can't really think of that site the same ever again.

...Wouldn't that be a fucking sweet launch title list?

Damn.

I guess we can all only dream.

Know what would be really sweet? If they could make it so you could download actual revolution games for a small charge, and then they would self-delete in about five days. Virtual Rentals! Damn, they would fucking own Blockbuster. Might take FOREVER to download though...

Quote me on that. I was the first one that said it would be cool if Zelda would be able to have extra features if played on the Revolution, and it looks like that one is going to come true.

GOD DAMNIT I LOVE THAT DAMN IMAGE!
Where the hell is that from, anyhow?

So if this is antient, does that mean that this information is innacurate? or do we have a huge free backlibrary?

And about downloading titles... Cute trick, but I doubt it'll happen. The potential for dumping them is too large if you already have it.
Pirates galore would be all up in downloading whole games.
God I can't wait to get this machine.

Yes, its inaccurate.

Darth Marsden wrote: How much would you guys pay for those old games?

For a ROM I wouldn't pay more than 50 cents maybe. When you download the game you get nothing but a file on a card. That ain't worth anything to me. I'd buy an original game cartridge for 50$ if it were in condition to warrent that. But when you get nothing, I pay nothing.

Did I already metnion about this, you can bet that shortly after launch, programs will come out to let you put your own ROMs on your GC anyway. ;p Even though they say there's copy protection, nothing is perfect.

I've really really dropped out of the piracy scene as of late (I tried my hand at DS passthroughs, got pissed, ditched the scene until I care again) but I recall seeing that as already possible with some tiny modifications. You can burn shit onto those lil tiny CD thingys.
Emulation and music and such. Don't have any verification though, I could be retarded. Google pocketheaven forums, thats where I saw it.

On the topic of payment, I wouldn't pay anythign for NES or most SNES roms. I can play NES games 100% faithfully on my GBA flashcart, with hardly any scaling, and it looks great.
SNES emulation on teh PC isn't the same, so I'd probobly play SM and SMRPG, and maybe a few other classics that weren't ported to GBA.
Sega emu = NO because I've got sonic mega collection for GC, and thats really all I liked Segagen for.
n64 emu? wtf yeah. If it had online multiplayer. Otherwise fthat. Not that many n64 games had replay value outside of multiplayer. Thats why I like classics so much -- Replay value.
GC games had alot of replay value, too. Some of them. I'd probobly DL them if I didn't own them.

If I got a Revolution(which I'm not going to), I wouldn't pay more than 1$ for a game, becuz in a month or two there would be a way to download them all for free.

Still interested in a thread that is WRONG?

It's not good to bump old topics. People don't see the date and take crap out of context.

sweet! now I know I've gotta get the Revolution when it hits the states! :kitty:

the Metroid series will be mine! :kawaii:

Like him.

Btw, buying cartridges is great and all, but what guarantee is there that they will last? At least with the RVC you get assurance the games will work.

Unless they fuck up like the XBOX360.

Dechipher, classic game cartridges are on MaskROM IC chips. These last virtually forever unless abused. After a long long long time you might start to wear down the copper contacts on the connector. But game cartridges for these systems from the 80s and 90s will last till you're long dead. The game consoles will too though you might have to fix misc parts on them. Ussually cartridge connectors.

While I agree with you, not everyone takes as good of care of games as one would hope. I just can't help but think to my SNES. There are quite a few games that just won't work right. My SMW2: YI game keeps resetting the data, that is, whenever I can get it to work. My Secret of Evermore game is scrambled, and my latter two DKC games keep losing data. Maybe my family is just rough on games. But at least with the RVC you wouldn't have to worry about how your brother takes care of your game. So long as you put your memory card up safely.

Last I checked, most (if not all) SNES games use batteries to keep save data. The batteries do have a finite life, and when they die, your data has issues.

For whatever reason, my version 2 SNES likes to erase the date on carts. I think it's because the carts dont sit snugly in the console, and when it gets wiggled even the slightest bit, the consol resets and the data is lost. It's frustrating.

While having the carts for nostalgic sake is kinda cool, I'd rather just download the games and have them all playable on one nice little black box.

My Super Mario All-Stars likes resetting my data every three times I play D:

also this topic made me cream my pants when I saw it. bg that it's not real D:

The SNES games that save ussually (always as far as I know) have your usual lithium battery in them. Simply open it up and replace it. Good as new. You will need a "game bit" or sometimes its called a security bit. There are two different sizes I've seen though I forget the measurements. You need the smaller one though.

Secret of Evermore probably has scratched or dirty cartridge contacts on the edge connector (the bottom).
