Not working on one right now, but in the future, is there any plan to provide additional support for Zelda 2 Style quests or simply the ability to make a "Zeldavania" style quest? I had this crazy thought to do a quest in the vein of Castlevania 2 / Symphony of the Night / Super Metroid. Would require much planning, but I noticed despite people making "Metroid" quests in ZC there is remarkably little in the way of enemy/item support for such a quest without heavy scripting, tile modding, and other extremely convoluted shenanigans.

There are currently no plans to expand upon the sideview feature. I imagine there won't be until the source is released and someone decides that they want to make that happen. Sideview has sort of always been a novelty add on and not really all that suitable for making a full sideview quest without scripting or a great deal of cleverness. Scripting isn't convoluted or shenanigans, btw. Also using ZC for most purposes has always involved hacks and tricks for making it do somethings it wasn't really designed to do. We make do.

Isn't that always the case? I guarantee you learning to make use of scripts, even if you do not ever learn to write them, will become a invaluable asset. That is not to say a great quest cannot be script free.

Back on topic. There was a discussion at some point about making a collection of scripts for expanding the usefulness of sideview. I can't say if that ever went anywhere, but I will have a look for it.

Well there is a "Sideview Enemy Pack" maybe that is what I was thinking of.

So the sideview enemies pack is more or less usable now. I'm working with Zoria to hopefully make it more organized and better documented as well as a second pair of eyes for bugcatching, but for now it'll do. Here's a video of the pack in action:

And you can download the pack here. It comes with some visual aid images, a test quest, and a text file with some hastily written explanations of enemy arguments. Enjoy!

So with knowledge of using scripts there are sideview enemies available and I believe there are also ladder, platform, and jumping scripts. Items I am not so sure.

Looks like a good start at any rate. Guess I'll have to take a look at the script tutorial at some point. I need to modify a script I was given anyway, assuming I can figure it out.
