Apples to Apples, the Cheap Forum Version

10 replies · 25,330 views · Started 27 September 2012

If you've played Apples to Apples before, you know that it's a card game that involves assigning a noun to the judge's adjective. After everyone has put in their selection, the judge selects a winner.

To play this game on a forum will be difficult, so we're going to have to tweak some things. Here's how it works:

When you post, you must declare an adjective. Any descriptive word counts.

Adjective: Fluffy.

Then, you must post at least one noun you feel fits the adjective that was above yours. Indicate which adjective you are referencing by tagging the poster with @Username.

@CJC (Fluffy): Marshmallows

The next time you post, compare all the nouns placed towards your adjective and pick a winner. Declare in your post which noun won, and why. For the game to work, at least two people must have posted before you can post again (so that you have at least two options)
If that didn't make a lick of sense, here's an example.

1st Poster: Tom
Adjective: Shiny

2nd Poster: Dick
Adjective: Pious

@Tom (Shiny): Motorcycle

3rd Poster: Harry
Adjective: Suckarrific

@Tom (Shiny): Joan Rivers
@Dick (Pious): GenCon

4th Poster: Tom
Joan Rivers is Shiny, and so is Harry!

Adjective: Swift

@Dick (Pious): Chili Dog
@Harry (Suckarrific): Taxes

Okay, let's begin.

My first adjective is...
Tantalizing

Apparently nothing is tantalizing, so for the sake of grave-digging here is the new adjective.

Adjective: Crunchy

Magnus Accanta
Entropic... Science.

Adjective: Viscous (Sticky, Thick, Adhesive)

No, because you need to add your own adjective for other players to respond to.

But... considering the game is three years old and never had even one viable round, it's safe to say it's not going to take off.
I guess the concept was a little spammy anyway.

It's no problem, the game concept was just too dependent on multi-user forum activity. Most forum games which do well can function when two members post back and forth, but this one required at least three members AND new players to read all former posts.

Anyway, I'm declaring this forum game deceased and locking the thread. Thank you for your effort, but there's not value in this game to try to save it.

How many times do we have to tell you CJC. We do not lock threads on AGN. Normally
This would of been how I would of handled the situation myself.

Actually it works like this
CJC Sauce
Dystopian

That being said...

The new adjective is Dystopian
