While playing HoD (2.10) on beta 18, I noticed that when press the map button, it used to show all of the screens that were of Level 0 on the dmaps. However, now it shows every screen regardless of what Dmap they are on.
So for example, on my Palm Island, it shows all of the screens on that map that were used for strings, houses, dungeons, etc. So, it kinda looks odd.
[beta 18] Maps Bug
I'm pretty sure this problem existed for loooong and it's the main reason why I don't use the [space] (map) button.
Yeah, but, it is something that should be fixed as it looks pretty bad. XD
you do know it shows all the screens that are set in the map in the dmap right?
I don't know how you are using it, or if there is a new bug or not, but it worked perfectly in the 1200 as designed to work.
there are also some flags in the dmap for these.
The reason why I think it is a bug, is because this isn't how it was in 2.10. I am playing HoD (2.10) on this beta, and this is happening.
Basically, it used to show only the screens that where on the map, that had Level 0. Now, it shows every screen regardless of the Level. I had dungeons, strings, caves, cutscenes, etc. in the same map, but it looked normal in the map of the area. Now, it shows every screen I was on, regardless, and sense they are all not in the same colors either, it looks bad. XD
yes... that was a change made that allows you now to also use the maps in places like caves and dungeons, which I think is a good thing...
but it's only supposed to show the screens that are marked in the dmap.
There are also some dmap flags that help control this, forget exactly what they are called.
I'm trying to figure out in my mind here if what you have is a compatibility issue or a bug, I'd hate to see them turn it into a bug if it's a compatibility thing between 2.10 and the 2.5's.
If you are using the same level number in a lot of different dmaps.... and have all the little buttons in the different dmaps map punched... well, yea that may screw you up, but it would be your fault and not the programs, if ya catch my drift
Oh okay, they turned it on, on purpose. Okay. I wonder if they can make the default of just 2.10 games to be the other way, or if I should just update HoD 2.10, to turn off the maps altogether. I'll see what they say though. That's interesting though, gives me ideas. :P
2.10 had a serious map bug anyway, I ended up turning maps off in Tortuga because of it.
In 2.10 if you went through a passage and then hit the map, it would trigger all the secrets on a screen, or at least I believe that's was the bug, if memory serves.
I know it was serious enough that I turned them off, and that DN fixed the bug in the 2.10-2 release.
I've changed it so that a screen is only marked as visited when on a DMap that allows the map to be viewed. That screen flag doesn't appear to be used for anything else, so I don't think it'll cause any problems.
So, this should be fixed, but existing saves won't be affected.
Edit: Bah. Looked like that post didn't go through earlier, but it did. 😛
