I have received confirmation from Joe123 that the item pickup script function in the item editor is broken in 1269. For example, Joe123's item pickup message script (which is assigned to the script box on the pickup tab) no longer works as an item pickup script. I have it set to slot 1, which I have assigned to some of my items in LOZ-Generation5.qst, but no matter what I set Argument D0 (string) to, the message string does not appear when I pick up any items that have the script attached to it. However, Joe123's Item Pickup Message Script also work as an item action script, in which a string is displayed when you press the button that the item is assigned to.
