Webcomics and other such wastes of time

Mwa hahahah!

EDIT: Site seems to be down. It was working yesterday. [shrug]

Start from the beginning, make your way through to the end, and then stop.

I've also been going through the Let's Play Archive, mostly so I don't have to actually PLAY the Resident Evil series. The screenshot ones are the best - they could almost pass for webcomics, if you're in the right mindset. If you only try one though, I implore you to read the Chrono Trigger one - it's a work of art.

Oh yeah, I absolutely must recommend my favorite webcomic ever, AXE COP!

I'm sure you're already hip to XKCD and Perry Bible Fellowship.

It's not a comic, but start reading TV Tropes and the next thing you know it's tomorrow.

These are in a bookmark folder that I always load immediately when I get home:

• PvP
• Penny Arcade
• VG Cats though I don't know why; it updates *maybe* once a month?
• Nuklear Power, home of 8-bit theater (which just wrapped up *sniff*) and "How I Killed Your Master".
• Starslip is pretty OK
• Dinosaur Comics
• Achewood

Since you asked for wastes of time in general, I'll list some non-comic ones. By "some" I mean "the only thing I really use the internet for once I get home". Kingdom of Loathing is a browser-based RPG with a great sense of humor.

Sinfest
featuring Talking Guinea Pigs/Cagin' It
Medium Large
How to Make a Sprite Comic in 8 Easy Bits, though updates are a bit slow at the moment.
Pictures for Sad Children isn't for everyone, but I like it.

As for non-webcomics:
Cake Wrecks
The "Blog" of "Unnecessary" Quotation Marks
The Comics Curmudgeon
The Daily WTF

I've rather enjoyed this comic most recently.

...and then I just screw around on Facebook.

One of my favorites is Sluggy Freelance. Because of its many intertwining threads, some consider it to be a soap opera in terms of webcomics. You should really start at the beginning.

Not webcomics, but still wastes of time:
Clientcopia
FailBlog
NotAlwaysRight
The Oatmeal

I stopped reading Sluggy when they stopped having Bert in it :< And then every time I think "Okay maybe I'll start reading again" I fuss with myself over whether I should start from the front or pick a random chapter, and whatever I do, I'm unsatisfied because I know I'll never read it all.

As I am an undergraduate on the way to grad school, and I know several grad students and their trials and tribulations, I really enjoy http://www.phdcomics.com/
