Talk to the blue guy on the lower left of that screen and you'll be taken to a black screen, you can't escape this screen no matter which way you walk etc.
You need to quit -> continue or quit -> save to get out.

Well, I went to that place in ZQuest 2.10, and it looks like it's supposed to warp to that black screen? Hmm.
Does it occur in 2.10?
