Warping (side warp timed) into a "no subscreen" screen and out again results in items being moved out of the "b" slot
Going in I had the whistle equipped, and coming out it was shifted to the red potion.
My A & B buttons are set up to select any item in each one.
The sword returned to the A button slot but it disappeared for an instant before reappearing.
version 1099 on an XP machine
still present in the 1151
this is a critical bug that effect game play seriously, it should be fixed before a stable release in my opinion
Yes, can be hazardous for after the cut scene events occur. For instance, a conversation before you fight a boss, your equipped weapons would change after the conversation.
(presuming the quest author uses the "no subscreen" thing for the room that the conversation takes place in)
It's the code for a new wizard type boss that we put in there. "Fight me, Link! And just to make things interesting, your sword is now... a shrubbery!"
j/k Good find; we'll get it. 😃
Hmm..Strangely enough I could not get the items to shift spaces with any configuration I tried...meaning it's probably one of those really obscure cases. Would you mind sending me the quest or a simple test case that exhibits this bug?
man you don't know what you ask.
I can't think of any way to do that easy.
I could give you my quest, but then I'd have to give you a list of items so you would know what all to put in, and a map so you'd know where to go and what to do....
or I could set up a test quest , setting up the warp ring in this only took me 4 days....
the quest itself is over 7 megs.....
I don't know what to do here... it needs fixed
what do you prefer?
😮dd:
..What exactly are you doing with warp rings?
What I tried was screen A,B,C,D. timed warp from screen A->screen B(no subscreen)->screen C->screen D(no subscreen)->A->B->C->D and so on and everything worked fine.
these aren't the programs warp rings they are warps I set up.
You go in a room and choose a, b, c, or D insta warp and it sends you to a timed warp screen (invisible link), which plays a cycling combo of link floating up, then it sends him to another screen that is timed w/ cycling combo of him floating down (invisible link).
he goes through 4 screens total and all are no subscreen
so....
room 1 link chooses a warp -room is no subscreen
room 2 he is invisible and is timed to 180 -room is no subscreen
room 3 he is invisible and is timed to 180 -room is no subscreen
room 4 subscreen returns with link visible and on his own again but a and b items are scrambled
items are set to choose any item for slot A or B
potion always ends up in slot B
I sent you an email, this is driving me crazy as well. I'm using 1161.
EDIT: You being Gleeok
OK guys, turns out this has nothing to do with the "no subscreen" flag. The reason for missing the true culprit is because you had the no subscreen flag checked in the first place! :P
What seems to be going on is you are direct warping between two screens where you're using different subscreen types for each screen. I thought about doing the force verify subscreen items with any warp type as the engine does when switching screens by other means. However It doesn't look like this will fix the problem, just bypass the screen delay associated with this. HOWEVER, it looks like there is in fact no problem except direct warps delaying the switch instead of it happening at the moment of screen switching. This might cause other problems if items become invalid. Should be fixed in the next build.
Joe: I fixed your quest simply by changing the subscreen to the valid subscreen on the title screen. Give it a try. 😊
Freedom: Just go into the dmap you are using for the warp ring and set the subscreen type to what you have setup instead of the default one.
Nice catch Gleeok, thanks
