This thread included a poll: Is a fix for this needed before 2.5 is released?

strange behavior

Allegro, bugs, memory leaks, glitches.....
I'll let you guys decide what they are.

[strike]
1) IF you open one quest, copy a screen and then open, paste, and save in another quest, and return to the first quest for more screens then when you shut Zquest down it squirrels out your screen, like the icons, an open windows explorer window, etc. and zquest doesn't show as shut down on the process bar at the bottom.
It doesn't seem to really hurt anything but requires a reboot to get the computer back to where it should be.... not showing the zquest as running or acting sluggish.

2) AVG and colors seem to have a conflict, if you get a ping from AVG while you are in Zquest, it scrambles ZC colors and you have to leave and then reopen the program to get them right again.

3) midis.. IF you open a midi in media player to decide if it's the one you want to use, then go into Zquest and load it, it turns the SW synth volume down.
(I'm Using Realtek sound device)[/strike]

4) "Something" moved the set point on my mirror shield, one time in the game it was correct, the next time the 10 frame animation was moved to start 1 tile earlier.
I hadn't touched it for any reason.

5) Some combo settings have been changed for no reason, some that were set to "none" all of the sudden became hookshot only combos, I didn't change these myself, the program did.

I know that number three is Media Player's fault. It does that with every single other music or midi editing software I have also. I even started up a new little project that handles midi notes and files and it does the same exact thing if I use Media player prior running it. There's nothing at all wrong with the code so all fingers point elsewhere. Actually, all the other apps I have BESIDES Media Player can be open and work together just fine. I blame Microsoft, you should too. 😊

1) OK. fixed. You shouldn't be able to do that. Use import export map functions from now on.

2) Nothing we can really do about that.

3) Not a bug.

4-5) ???

then unfix it.
sometime you just want 1 screen and don't want to fuck your map up in the quest you are moving it to.
It's a VERY GOOD THING to be able to do what I was doing, it saved over a years worth of work that would have been lost otherwise.

What? Freedom, it doesn't look like it was ever intended to be used like that. You're talking about crashes, memory allocations, possibly corruption here. ..I don't know unfixing it is going to fix it.

What about an export/import screen feature? Or perhaps just pasting all the screens to a single map in one quest file then importing that map to a scratch map in the second quest file and finally pasting each screen where you want it's final location to be. Wouldn't this way actually be less time consuming than constantly saving and loading two quest files for each single screen you want copied?

been doing it since way back in the day Gleeok, and not only with ZC.
no, I really don't believe it would be any faster or better to import 4 or 5 whole maps to get 15 or so screens
it's very fast jumping back and forth grabbing screens from one to the other.

Alright Freedom, I took a deeper look into this. You can copy/paste screens like this again. It's like it's your birthday or something. :O

really?
I didn't get no cake

thanks

nothing here do I consider critical enough to hold up a release.
