This is all caused by pressing the sword button, then pressing the item button before the beams fires while any of the following items are equipped: Boomerang, Arrow, Candle, Hookshot.
The sword beam uses weapon 3 of whatever item is equipped to button B in these images. If it's a candle, boomerang or arrow, then the beam merely stuns enemies. If it's a hookshot, then the beam is given a ridiculous damage multiplier depending on the hookshot item's level.
