Any time an item is given a name that starts with the letter "Z" it ends up at the end of the list past z255, yet with enemies this is not the case, they all start with "e", but stay at the end of the list. It would make sense then that the unused Items and what ever else has editable properties should also fallow that pattern.
If for some reason that's not possible perhaps they should have two z's instead i.e. zz255... Its not as if Z's are THAT big of deal in a game call Zelda with a bunch of Zoras in the water.
It's because letters sort after numbers. So, Za comes after z9, etc.
Incidentally, I just tried renaming one of the "exxx" enemies to "ftest", and it sorted to the bottom of the list. Then, I renamed "Bat" to "gBat", and it went below ftest. But, everything else stayed where it was.
Sooo, everything does sort "correctly", but:
1. It's unintuitive, since the whole list doesn't sort at once
2. Anything starting with e (in the enemies list) or z (in the item list) sort to the very bottom.
I'm not sure what, specifically, is the bug in there.
it's not so much a bug as it is bad design. I'm all open to ideas to make it better.
That is the main reason why listed it as an audio-visual bug, It is (for the most part) a minor annoyance, but I think it should be tidied up before the next full version is out.
whatever causes the unused enemies to fall to the bottom of the list should also be applicable here to right? If i were a developer, I'd check the code for that first.
I'm not sure what a proper way to solve this is, but perhaps make the default names for all those items something like: "\xffz255" or whatever...
Of course, you would have to ensure that character 0xff is non printing, and that when a user modifies the name of the item, the character goes away.

Since I can think of no case (in English anyway) where two Z's start a word. "zz***" Should be a more then adequate default name. Its simple, and users can easily revert back to if needed.
* Default Template: fixed the names of the unused items, enemies and weapons. Now, they follow the name format 'zz###' consistently. ( _L_, 2009-10-25 01:12:43 )
This was fixed back in October.
