I don't know if this is how it works in LoZ, but I was playing through Level 3, got to the Manhandla boss, killed 3 of the heads (only the top one was left), was near-death, hit F6->Quit->Continue, left the dungeon, filled up life, went back, and...
No Manhandla, only a heart container. Doesn't seem right. I don't know if dying and continuing would've done the same thing, but it kinda seems like an issue with how ZC treats boss rooms and the Manhandla's heads as separate enemies.
[910] Manhandla free kill(?)
I think it's NES-consistent. I can't quite remember off the top of my head.
I'm finding it hard to reproduce this!
Well, only other detail I can think of is that I hit the top head 2 or 3 times before hitting F6. If that doesn't do the trick, I'll try to think of something else.
Yeah, this happened to me once.
I can't confirm for the NES version though. Been a while since I played that one.
This has happened to me before. And I can't really complain, because I've been using it to my advantage. 😊
Not sure how it worked on the NES though.
I suppose I'll try replicating it. It happened to me also. I'll just destroy 3 heads, let myself die, and see if he's still alive.
EDIT: Well, Manhandla lives on even with only one head. This bug doesn't replicate to the NES version of Zelda. It looks like it's Zelda Classic specific.
Do the other head grow back in the original?
This is probably affected by the Must Kill All Bosses rule.
Dark Nation: Yep, I just played through level 3 in the NES original, and right after killing myself with only one Manhandla head left, I re-entered, and all four heads were back and better then ever.
Shazza Dani: I agree, I don't have any time left now, but maybe one head's death transfers as a Manhandla's death for a moment, thus triggering the boss flag.
Fixed!
(Also, this bug affects Patras too.)
(But not Lanmolas.)
