Test quest/save: http://zctut.com/my1st.zip
For reasons that currently elude me, when I have the included quest set to restore a percentage of my HP on continue, I start with exactly 0 HP, and die instantly. If it's not set to a percentage, I start with 3 Hearts, no matter what I really set it to.
However, on a new save, it works just fine. Soo.... Yeah.
Uh... What build did you make this test quest on?
▼Okay, I noticed that there are new features, like walkable water, level keys, and a fairy partner script.
Anyway, I'm not seeing this bug...🙄
I edited proposed1st.qst, so it was created in whatever build that was created in. However, the last build I edited it with is 910.
Also, it's not a test quest, per se, as a project I'm working on to be released at some point in the future, when it's done.
proposed1st.qst is old. It was included ages ago to help fix the original templates up and stuff. Chances are, the fix for your bug is not retro-active.
I am aware that it's old. However, theoretically, ZQuest should upgrade an old quest when it's edited and saved? Right? Or, did I miss a memo?
not all bug fixes can be applied by that method.
I can't see why.
Either way, I would much rather get some input from a developer than endlessly speculate as to whether or not my save file is too old or not.
Since, you know, new save files do not suffer this problem.
So, if you save proposed1st.qst in 910, then create a new save slot with it, you still get the bug?
The sequence of events:
1. Make a copy of proposed1st. Make edits.
2. Make a save file, play through a bit. Save.
3. Make more edits, play through, save.
4. Repeat step 3 a bunch of times
5. Change the Init Data so that 100% of HP is recovered on Continue, rather than 3 hearts.
6. Die on resuming the saved game.
All of this was done in 910.
If I make a new save file, then it seems to work as expected. It must be that the save file is corrupted. I guess the question then becomes "Why?"
Are you able to reproduce this bug or did it happen just the one time?
It happens consistently with that one save file. New save files, not so much.

Yes, yes it does. However, save files aren't necessarily compatible between builds. We try to avoid breaking compatibility, though.
Try this: download build 906, make another save file, and see if it also "breaks" when used in 923.
