[887] Paint bug, again (fullscreen only)

Look, I know it's not advisable to use the tile editor, but the paint bug is still there and it seems to have gotten worse. The original post appears to be lost, so I'm making this one as a reminder to get it fixed.

But I fixed this! Didn't I?

* Fixed the bug where the Tile Editor's Fill cursor jumps position when used.

Well, it returned. My guess is that the recent build used an older editor script, with the bug still intact.

Well, I can't verify it. I see no trace of it.

I suppose another developer will have to fix it.

You'll see if you use the paint tool, it jumps an inch down and doesn't use the tip of the paint to aim the right spot. This needs to get fixed now!

I found out the problem occurs in fullscreen mode, not the windowed mode. I hope it gets fixed in fullscreen.

Well now, mine's a different story. Mine occurs in windowed, and I have Vista 32-bit.

It's just a thought, but maybe the bug is associated with the bitmap reference?

I run Vista 64-Bit and use large mode.

Using full-screen: this bug occurs.

Using windowed: This bug does not occur.

This is for build 908.

OK, I think I know what the problem with this is now - It's the pointer design.

Look at all the pointer styles for the tools. Notice that most are designed to point at the top-left - all except the Fill pointer. Instead, it is designed to point bottom-left rather than top-left. I believe that this is the problem; we would generally think that the area affected would be the bottom-left, when it's designed to function like all of the other tools - top-left. This is what's been throwing us off.

So, the only solution I can think of is to either replace the icon with a more accurate representation, or have it changed to have it's own unique hotspot location.

I used to think it was just a hotspot issue, too. However, the hand doesn't exhibit the same problem, and it's hotspot is in the middle of the cursor.

I liked when the fill tool looked like the replace tool; it was a blue wand. There was never a problem with it then, back in version 1.92.

But... but... but...

The paint bucket (aka potion bottle) motif is better! Except that you usually hit the wrong area with it. 😞
