Well, apparently I was wrong when I said that this bug was confirmed as fixed. ST_ITEMS and ST_SCREENITEMS is updated correctly on map 0, but does not work on maps >= 1 (I only tested map 1 and 2, but I assume the ones higher don't work as well).

Are you sure? Show me the quest.
Here you go. Download itembugtest.qst. Note that the same ffc script has been applied to each screen in the dungeons. Each dungeon has 2 screens and then moves on to the next map. You can see which map your on by looking at the dmap name in the subscreen. What this script should do is to display a message when you collect the item on that screen. The "level" input for the ffcs is not necessary, I forgot to take that out when I modified the script I was having problems with.
By the way, there are a few other odd things you can see with this quest that I cannot reproduce on a consistent basis, but got lucky this time 😃. First, look at Link's graphic when he goes into the cave tile. Right before the screen changes, it looks... odd. Second, when you open the quest in ZQuest, look at the tile warp data on the overworld screen. Where is the screen location it is set to warp to? Wait, that screen doesn't exist, does it? Exactly.

But for the others, a bug is indeed evident. Fixed!
