I've tried to cross a river (one field of water) on the overworld (normal water) when I was in possession of the normal stepladder. The ladder however didn't even appear. Shouldn't it always appear to walk on the first deep water tile anyway, even though there's endless water in front of Link?
Please give me a solution to this vital problem, so I can release "Zelda 1.5" soonish. 😊
Did you enable the screen flag for that screen, to enable the step ladder?
In addition, the ladder is automatically enabled on a dungeon DMap.
I know about the dungeon ladder activation, thanks. 😊 As for the screen flag ... I wasn't aware of that ... I thought overworld behaves equal to dungeon if it comes to automatic ladder usage. Anyway, I've solved the ladder issue and I've decided to give away the flippers earlier, so there is no need for a ladder at all.
you did find the screen flag right?
Actually no. I've looked for it closely and I've also consulted the provisional first quest and there were no flags on the overworld for stepladder usage. I guess it has to be done otherwise, or is there a flag? I checked all (about one hundred) flags, and there was no stepladder flag, only two raft flags, one for raft path and the other name I don't remember.
No no, it's not a combo flag- it's a screen flag. Screen -> Screen Data -> Screen Flags 1 -> Allow Ladder.
It only affects the current screen, so you will have to apply that for each screen you want it used on or.... is there a quest rule?
@ Ebola: Oh wow ... that flag never caught my attention. Thanks a lot! I'll test it.
@ Franpa: About the "each screen", if it's a screen flag, it's logical. I always thought it's a combo flag like the raft path etc. And no, there is no rule somehow overruling ladder usage, I am sure. I've got nearly two years experience with Z-Quest. =)
