Keep in mind I've not been here in months so forgive me if this has been mentioned already:
I haven't used ZQuest in months, and last time I used it it was in fine shape (albeit already a bit laggy). NOW, it's laggy as crap. The menus are slow, and sometimes I mouse over too fast and it automatically "clicks" a menu option I wasn't aiming for. WHY is it laggy in the first place? The problem was starting around February and I'm surprised something hasn't been done about it yet. Combos on screen also animate rather choppily, and my computer seems to strain more than usual to keep ZQuest running. :eyebrow:
Yup, it seems to happen to me a lot. The amount of lagginess depends on the build, it's always somewhat laggy though. The insta-'clicking' thing it does when the drop down menus are loading it the most annoying thing in my opinion.
Is this in windowed mode? One element of lag that can't be easily fixed is the color conversion from 8-bit to 32-bit surfaces.
My computer is about as sucky as you can get and still run ZC, but it works absolutely fine in fullscreen. Maybe a quarter-second lag on a few things, but nothing unexpected. But yeah, windowed is laggy as hell.
This is happening to me too. I just assumed it was because they laptop I'm using is a peice of junk. But appearently it's not the source of the problem. By the way, I am using Windowed mode, 2X, no large mode.
Windowed mode, build 798. I'm running XP. I believe it's set to 3x *checks*
...
Yea, 3x.
Are you forcing it to small mode (the mode with only one combo list on the right side of the screen)?
Yea, I set it to small mode via ZCL. The times I've tried to set it to windowed large mode ZQuest would not start up. The window would appear for half a second then disappear.
