As soon as Link steps on a Step->Next Combo that changes to another Step->Next Combo with diagonal movement turned on, then the new Step->Next Combo that appears would instantly be triggered before Link can walk off of it. I had to turn Diagonal Movement off, so that the second Step->Next Combo that appeared after stepping on the 1st one would not be triggered until Link steps on it again.
NOTE: I'm not entirely sure if this is really a bug, but if it is, then let me know...😉
I found it in my test quest file after I turned Diagonal Movement on:http://www.freewebs.com/masterpikachu/ZC%20Content/Incomplete%20Quests/LOZ%2DGeneration4.qst
PS: I have updated my quest file, and no, I have not yet uploaded the latest update to Freewebs, so you'll get the one before the update I made last night and today. In addition, I'm not uploading the update that I made last night and today until this is confirmed, as the update I made today update has Diagonal Movement turned off.
Another Diagonal Movement Bug (Step->Next)
Well, this one still happens with Diagonal Movement in Build 796!
And the second Step->Next Combo is still immediately triggered when it appears with Diagonal Movement turned on in Build 798.
PS: Why won't anyone reply to my bug reports???😞😞😞
I've been finding several bugs that you people never knew existed...
The devs most likely only post when the bugs status changes. They probably and most likely don't have time to have a conversation with each bug involved which is why they now require Test Quests.
If the bug has not been mentioned in the changelog @ http://www.shardstorm.dreamhosters.com/ then it is safe to assume no one has committed a fix for it yet.
The Open Beta Bugs was split into 6 sub forums so that people DON'T need to keep bumping there bug reports till it is mentioned in the changelog and still does not function right.
So I tested the Step->Next combo with a different file in my copy of beta 11, and apparantly this 'bug' dates back to there as well.
I then turned diagonal movement off. Here's what the behaviour is like when it is off:
For each frame that Link is moving and is exactly aligned with the Step->Next combo, the combo advances. Thus, if Link runs full steam ahead across the combo, it will only advance once, because Link is only exactly aligned once. But if Link steps onto it, then turns around and goes back, it will advance twice.
The above behaviour will change to that of the 'bug' when either Old-Style Warp Detection is turned off, or Diagonal Movement is turned on. This is a bit goofy.
Ideally, Step->Next should have one of the following behaviours:
- when stepped on, it instantly advances to the next non-Step combo
- when stepped on, it changes to the next combo and remains there until you step off and on it again.
(At what point was Step->Next added, might I ask? Is there some backwards-compatability I need to worry about?)
Anyone? if this is a bug, then what should Step->Next do?
I'm inclined to think that it should be possible for there to be a delay before advancing. -- Pteryx

Ooh, a screen flag would be fantastic if at all possible.
The second Step->Next combo is still instantly triggered after the first one is triggered with diagonal movement is turned on in Build 809. It does not happen when Diagonal Movement is turned off. Also, having Old Style Warp Detection turned off didn't affect this behavior with classic style movement. However, with Diagonal Movement and Old Style Warp Detection both turned on, this problem does not happen.

My ongoing question is, is A the bug or is B the bug?
Is A the original intended behaviour or is B the original intended behaviour?

Thus, if Link runs full steam ahead across the combo, it will only advance once, because Link is only exactly aligned once. But if Link steps onto it, then turns around and goes back, it will advance twice. Is this really what Step->Next ought to do, always?

A is the bug,and B is the intended behavior.
As for that second question, yes.
Okay then, just checking.
This might be a bit tricky.
F-f-fixed!
