Do these submissions have to be from things we are working on currently?

I have a screenshot worthy of the competition, even though I haven't touched the quest it's from in almost 3 years. It's a nifty scene though.

Ok, heed this everyone:

You can submit whatever you like for this

So long as it is a ZC screen

So what if you haven't worked on it for 3 years?
It's still a screen.
It's not the 'Screenshotofwhatyou'recurrentlyworkingonoftheweek' competition.

So yes =)

I sent mine to the three that would be posting the sotw. 😛 Sorry, I couldn't remember your username exactly.

I think that we have three entries at this moment... with several days to go! See, this is why it is necessary to have a single place to where screens are sent. Everything seems disorganized right now.

While the idea sounds good and I think we should do it, we wouldn't be so unorganized if people were sure to send their screenshots to everyone working the Expo.

Several days? I thought it was yesterday...And why not just open a new account named SOTW? It's not like you're going to get banned...What did DD say?

2 people per event, plus one person to be... The official, I guess. You have to have two people in case one is unavailable at the time.

Yah.

So we have enough entrants, how are we doing it Amaster?
A rota?

You can do this week and I'll do next?
Then Pineconn if he wants?

And shall we change the starting day to a wednesday or just start late this week?

I don't think that's necessary. According to the thread, SUBMISSIONS start this week, with the first voting thread on the 21, and the first official winner on the 28. No need to change anything.

I thought it was meant to start on the 14th, and we were running really late >_<

That's what I though too....

After that you just stop reading I guess.

Considering some the shots you pull off, you could easily win at least half of the SotW contests.

I think I'm going to sit this one out, considering that we already have four screenies.

Good point, I never thought of how we would post them. Well... I suppose we could do it "first come, first serve", but you have a several hour jump on the competition. 😊

Considering my extreme hate for PZC (Which I'm sure I don't need to explain), I want to go on a really long and boring rant on that question, but I don't feel like typing all of that, so I'm giving the short version.

1. Popularity contest. If your name is "DarkFlameWolf" or "NoeL", you can enter any piece of shit that you want and people will vote for you.

2. Sheep site. The first opinion tends to be the only opinion. Almost always, the contest was decided within the first couple of hours. The first one to get a couple of votes ahead is the one that gets the massive flood of votes soon afterward. You have a few people who will actually be honest, but nowhere near enough to cancel out all of the dumb fucks who just follow what everyone else said like Lemmings.

Yah, let's have a rota =P
Who wants to go first?

And I thought it was Relic who used to win every week?

You know what's funny, NoeL won Screenshot of the Year 2007. 😊

Although, I do somewhat agree. At Pure ZC, the screenshot that gets the first vote almost always wins.

And on a side note, could somebody plrease explain what was decided about SotW? I was reading the rules, and saw that submissions are supposed toi be sent to Pineconn, Amaster, Joe, Bobrocks, and me. So, who is the one who creates the SotW thread?

Pretty much every week he entered, yes. But that's not the point, at least Relic usually deserved his wins. It's when badly made Pure Tileset JPG shots with a horrid custom palette win...

You and bobrocks are running Gemstone, and Amaster and Joe123 are running SotW. We'll be setting up a new user account specifically for Amaster, Joe, and myself (called "SotW"😉 so we can manage the submissions more efficiently. We're having the screenshots be sent to all five of us temporarily.

NoeL deserved to win, his screens are always amazing. It's people like DFW, Linkus, and Shoelace who are guarunteed to win even if their screens are sub-par.

Because we don't have a box at the main page for SotW, how about this: We make a thread called "Current SotW". It is just one post, and always contains the current SotW, and it's captions, and nothing else. Each week, we just edit the post to take the old SotW out and put the new one in. How does that sound?

Um, that's changed since then. You see, everyone now votes more wisely; I know, because my picture lost to LostInHyru1e's shot in SoTW 201:

Also, Relic has quit posting in SoTW, after being blamed for the constant stream of poorly designed shots that had above-average graphics. I can't blame him though; I'd do the same if I knew that I worked hard on everything in that shot to some together correctly in design, and others bash it by simply having shots with poor design and above-average graphics. I should know, as I am guilty myself, but I was younger then.

Also, sub-par?? How is the picture below sub-par, then? I got a 10 from Nathaniel in his review...:

Your graphics are nice, but I wouldn't vote for that shot. There's absolutely nothing there. No player, no npcs, no subscreen. Why don't you just draw one player tile and use the LoZ subscreen so your shots at least look complete?

Dear God, it's even worse now then when I left.

How does an empty, repetitive basic DoR shot win against an empty, but beautifully drawn shot?

Oh yeah, it's PZC. I forgot.

I think some people have decided not to vote for a shot if it isn't at least taken in Zelda Classic. Which I agree with.

But why? It's a screenshot contest. Bringing anything else other than how good the shot looks is illogical and anything other than the eye-candyness of the shot is completely irrelevant. Not voting for a superior shot for the sole reason that it wasn't taken in the player makes just about as much sense as saying "I played that demo, but I didn't like the music in that area, so I'm not voting for that screenshot no matter how good it is."

Not exactly. The music doesn't effect the way it looks. The lack of player, npcs, and/or enemies makes a screen look boring and unappealing.
