Me and Amaster42 have been having some trouble making secrets permanent in a dungeon DMap. The specific screen has the flag "Treat as Interior Room", and every conventional mean of making the secret permanent have been in vain. We attempted putting floor combos "Trigger (Sensitive, Permanent)" in front of all exits to the screen, but still with no luck. You can see the thread here for whatever info is needed.
So is this a possible bug? Or are we both doing something wrong?
If you want to give me a copy of the quest I can take a look at it.
You can get it from this page, just look for "Death Mountain Trail BS".
Keep in mind that I was experimenting, and the screen flags weren't in whatever state they're in now. I tried nearly everything.
Just so you know, the best example screens are 71 and 72 from map 5.
Ah, forgot to mention that, thanks.
Ok, I just downloaded it and I'll have to install 758 before I can look at it, it is unpassworded right?
On map 5 screens 71 and 72 there aren't any trigger permanent combos being set when secrets are triggered to make it permanent.
Have you tried placing them, seeing if it works. I don't know weather Bobrocks ran the experiment or not, and that's his file you're using.
No, but I could see by the way it was set up that it couldn't work.
I didn't even open the player.
Put the perm triggers on those two tiles in front of the door from secret combo 20/flag 20 so they are placed when the last of those 4 blocks are pushed and it should work
meanwhile I'll try it here just to see if it works.
You're right, it's NOT working.
This is a bug Devs.
Like I said, I had been messing around with it. Didn't work with floor combos Trigger(Sens., Perm.) placed behind those blocks by the door, whether they were secret combos or plain floor combos being placed there.
I'm guessing Amaster quickly sent you the password, since I always forget about that... Of course, I'm afraid to take it off, for fear that I forget I did and put it in the DB un-passworded.
Try turning off Old Style Warp Detection in the rules. All imported 2.10 quests have this rule checked by default to ensure that secret triggers and warps in 2.10 quests behave as they did in that version (since 2.5 has since revamped the system). Of note is that sensitive triggers do not work with the rule checked, along with several of the newer related combo types.
That did the trick. Though I have to say the name of that rule is misleading. What does warp detection (isn't that somewhat like collision detection, except with warping?) have to do with permanent secrets or sensitive triggers?
I couldn't come up with a better name to fit the space constraints in the rule dialog. hopefully with the expanded dialogs that come with large mode, we'll be able to better label that and any other rule with an iffy meaning.
I bet this gives a lot of people headaches in the future.
I would have never thought to associate the two.
'Not A Bug' thread moved from quarantined to exterminated. Dark Nation (or other developer), how am I doing? Reply only in one of the threads I moved.
