758 palette bug

13 replies · 2,856 views · Started 01 March 2008

Ok I went to grab a new palette, and zquest 758 crashed on me.

edit: after switching to windowed mode it did not happen. But I switched back to large it happened again, so its a bug in large mode.

How it happened to me, was I tried to grab a palette into DoR 2.0 ow - regular
cset 0 . and it happened, so...😕

OK I have had this happen again in Build:777, and in Build:780. But this time I can not switch to windowed mode at all. So I think this has something to do with compatibility issue, with my computer. Either my video card or monitor.

I have asked about this in a previous thread, if my video card is too, big/powerful, or to high def for it, or some thing?

video card specs:
SLI-ready NVidia GeForce 8800 GTS graphics/video card with 640 MB of dedicated graphics memory.

my monitor:
The HANNSG 19" Widescreen LCD features a super fast response rate of 5ms, 16.2 million colours, 300 cd/m2 of brightness and a 700:1 contrast ratio which will display pictures in the best quality.

So I would love to be able to run ZQ in "normal" fullscreen, Which I have not been able to do since I got this computer!

UMM I am not to sure if I was doing that right, but I opened ZCL and when I choose X2 it just flickers and nothing, the only way I can even open zq is in large mode now, and I can not grab palettes in large mode. An X3 does the same, and when in large mode I tried going to options and switching it to small, but it still did not work.

Edit: After trying and trying I finally got windowed X2 to work, but still the point is I would love to be able to use normal "not" large mode, but plain full screen!

sorry I have not been able to get on the net for a few days..But to answer your question,
I have tried both ways. And it still only opens in large mode, and when in large mode I can not rip palettes with out it shutting down and giving me an error message.

the allegro log says unsupported color depth

Unsupported color depth

So what should I change my color depth and my display settings to?

32 bit, still does not let me open zq in small mode/full screen. Still only in large mode and the problem with that is. It crashes when trying to grab a palette.

I have done that over and over. And I am pretty sure its my monitor because its a 19" X 20" plasma monitor. If I had a different monitor to test this theory out, I would know for sure but I don't so. Or maybe its not my monitor because 211b142 opens in normal full screen no prob, so I don't get why none of these newer builds will
