[737]No Password

In the 2.5 737 build for Windows, both passwords in past quests taken from the QDB and a quest that I'm working on, are not apparent. That is to say, there is no pop-up when ANY quest is opened that asks for a password. I reset my password in the quest I'm making, and still nothing. The other game that is password protected on any other version(except 2.5b737) is A Link to the Heavens by Pineconn.

So basically passwords don't work.

EDIT: Password fixed in 738.

I can't find any 737, but with 738 (which is the newest), it still asks me for a password. But since it works for you, would you mind sending me the unpassworded edition of Hero fo Dreams? Just kidding. 😃

Apparently 737 was there(shardstorm) earlier, but then they added these two things:

* Forgot to rename the 24 Heart Containers quest rule to Unused.
* Fixed some minor complaints about the Screen Data text. ( DarkDragon, 2008-02-19 17:37:08 )

and just bumped it up to 738.

If you have any .key files for the quest files, you may want to get rid of them, as they make passwords defective.

Pineconn wrote:Confirmed. Considering the magnitude of this bug, is there any chance 738 can be scrapped?

What do you mean by scrapped? Removed? Because according to Russadwan, this doesn't occur in 738.

Really? I'll have to check with 738 since I was one of the lucky ones to get 737. I'm not going to lie, I'm definitely checking through some quest files with this. :sly:

More than anything I want to see how a few things were done. There's no way I'll actually edit the quests.

Okay, cool, this is indeed fixed in 738.

sending a copy of the quest wouldn't work, unless you meant a copy of 737.
And Pineconn, that's what I meant, just seeing what people had done with it.

Yeah, someone sent me a password-protected sample quest, so I turned off the check, then goofed and forgot to turn it back on.

Since ZC must be able to read a quest, quest passwords have never protected against more than casual attempts to read a passworded quest. However, out of respect for the wishes of the authors who put hard work into their quests (and so that a mob doesn't storm my house with torches and pitchforks), I ask that you not redistribute 737 if you managed to download it before I took it down.

You certainly have my word. I was going to add this bug fix to the Dev. History page on the main site, but I don't think I will anymore since I don't want to advertise that there was a build that would let you open password-protected quests.

...Can we still storm your house with torches and pitchforks for fun anyway?
