Has anyone else noticed midi playback doesn't seem to work the same in 731 (or maybe some of the more recent builds)? When playing my 2.10 quest, some tacks/instruments in the midi drop out completely. The problem may be with ZC because for one of the areas I noticed it, the midi played in full after I saved, quit, shut down and restarted ZC.
I don't remember this being an issue in earlier builds so I am thinking this has started recently.
[731] MIDIs losing instruments?
That happens to me, too. And what's worse, some MIDI's (such as the Gizm Fort theme in Molka) cause crashes.
Oh, and sometimes the music stalls and gets stuck on a high note.
Can someone look into this?
Is there a MIDI that consistently crashes ZC?
Post a test quest.
I didn't experience the crash on my end. I just had the problem as I described above. It almost seems like midis are acting up like they did in 2.10.
Is this on Windows? Post a test quest.
My quest is in my signature. Try going to areas with different music, listening to it, quit ZC, and go there again... it may sound different.
Strangely, I've experienced this bug myself. In particular, the "Lost Isle" quest's Ruined Castle MIDI loses an instrument or two when I play it. You can test this without even playing the quest.
Exactly. And in build 816, on this quest, listening to the Sky High Platforming theme makes some of the notes in the World 1-3 theme go sharp(a few notes too high).
Is this still happening?
Yes. Confirmed by accident a few minutes ago.
Yeah, it also does weird things with the RPG Maker 95 MIDIs. The instruments get so screwed up as far as volume and pitch that its unbearable sometimes. My guess is its got something to do with Allegro, because I never get this problem anywhere else with any of them. There's also a lot of MIDIs that are valid files that ZC/ZQ just totally refuses to play no matter what you do, and some say they're invalid when you load them, yet they play just fine in Timidity++.
Can you post a test quest that contains a MIDI that is like this?
On its way. Here we go. IN this case we get the first MIDI messing up the pitch in the second. Simply let the first MIDI play for a few seconds, then walk through the cave. The second MIDI gets all goofed up. You can play the second MIDI first in ZQ to see how its supposed to sound. Just don't play the first one before it or it will screw it up.

Oh, and this one is consistent. It happens EVERY time with this combination of MIDIs, in both ZC and ZQ.
This has been happening for several versions, including 2.10 and possibly 1.9X. However, by no means does that make it okay. :/
The third Imported Midi in Zodiac crashes ZQuest outright in Build 976. Merely selecting it from the dropdown list crashes it immediately.
