broken string codes? [731]

It would appear that one of the string codes is broken (I've only tested one though, so who knows?). The one I was trying to use was the "switch to if random" code. It "switches", but the string it "switches" to is totally invisible.

Hmm... I don't quite know what your problem is (maybe an example quest is in order?), but from my examinations, if the odds are, say, 1 in 2, then the randomiser seems to be not quite random enough.

...And, when it does switch, it apparantly skips over the first letter, control code or code argument of the string. Hmm... can you confirm that this is what's happening?

Well here's the quest I was using...

The string in which the codes are is string 133, and the room I put it in is screen 4,18.

Also, (I failed to mention this earlier) after I put in the string number, and click OK, the number is replaced with a different character. I've gotten mostly slashes.

Ah. That's the entire problem. Three-digit control code arguments don't work.

I'm working on it. This bug, though seemingly simple, reveals a larger irritation - namely, that argument numbers greater than 254 can't be inputted into strings at all. Apparantly I hadn't considered the "Goto If" control codes when coding up the new format, and since some quests, such as Hero of Dreams, have upwards of 1,400 strings, it seems quite unseemly that only the low 5% of those strings can be Gone To by control codes.

Rest assured, though, that a plan is afoot!
