In ZC, while playing quest, normally pressing keys F1-F4 are fine. F4 advances one frame and holding F4 down is slow motion.
But when you press F11 for No Walls or F12 for snapshots, then F1-F4 is repeating as you hold down. Holding F4 down is like as if the game were unpaused while the PAUSED is still showing.
I don't understand. I hit F4 to pause the game. If I now hold F4, the game advances slowly (at the rate of the key repeat). If I hit F11 to turn off clipping, then hold F4 again, the game still advances slowly, at that same speed.
What am I suppose to be seeing?
DD, do the same test, then enter a dungeon and try it again. See if you notice the difference. I've found that the repeat bug only happens (to me, at least) after I enter a dungeon. 😮dd:
I see the problem... Allegro's poll_keyboard() function is highly buggy, and seems to occasionally completely change the way Allegro handles keyboard input... needless to say I am not amused.
I'm going to reimplement handling all of those keys using the key-release system we're using for the primary keys (arrows, A, B, etc) and see if that solves the problem 😞
Ok, F12, F11, F5 (in the map), I, and Q now don't key-repeat, without screwing up keyboard input in the rest of the program.
