So it's been noticed. 😊 We've been commenting on the visual progress in chat. Thanks so very much for doing this, DD! It's really nothing to point a stick at, that's for sure.

So what was the algorithm used, anyway?

[strike]Oh, the list of stars is Here. I believe it's listed in order of use as well. Also note that there are also Circles for first years, Diamonds for second years, Stars for third years, Rupees for fourth years, some sort of skull mask (No idea what they're called.) for the fifth years, and Yin Yangs for the sixth years. We've got no seventh or eighth years that I can tell.[/strike] ... Eh, ignore that. That was just the excited rush of extrapolation with the "OMG ACTUAL STARS 'n shyt."

Reinstating that particular system would require a vB hack, which I don't feel quite up to yet. Maybe in the future.

1-3 stars for members.
5 stars for mods.
7 stars for admins.
Color based on number of years here (unless you're staff).

This looks like it might be temporary since I think DD is still tinkering with a few things.

What determines the 1-3 stars? Post count or Years been here? Isn't that the same as the color?

Also I am assuming 6 stars = SM

Yeah, more and more people are starting to get diamonds.

Regular members get 1-3 depending on post count. Color is based solely on number of years (unless you are staff).

It appears that the diamonds indicate which year of membership you are on. The number of complete years you've been a member plus one gives you your diamond count.

Well then what's the point of colors now?

Okay, tonight's "let's figure out the vBulletin API" experiment has resulted in the diamonds. Here's how the system stands.

Stars: These are in reverse priority order; you get the first of the following that you qualify for.

(Staff, Gold)
7 Stars: Administrators
6 Stars: Senior Moderators
5 Stars: Moderators

(Adjoint Staff, Silver)
5 Stars: Developers
4 Stars: Hosted Forum Moderators

(Others)
1 Pink Star: Banned members
2 Purple Stars: New members (< 100 posts)
3 Stars: Full members. The color of the stars is a function of your post count.

Diamonds: These are easy. You get one per year you've been at AGN.

I'm pretty happy with the system as it is now, and will probably leave it largely alone.
