Mutiple clocks in one screen!!! [509 and below]

Nobody ever reported that until now. This is an inconsistency! Clocks appear from enemies more than once per screen.

Go ahead and check the original NES. If clocks appear only once per screen, then the inconsistency in ZC is true. If so, fix that inconsistency via a new quest rule. Put an unused quest rule in page 1 to use: "Multiple Clocks per screen." If unchecked, one clock per screen. That quest rule is useful when clocks only last a limited time (edited in clock properties in item editor).

How do we know that it wasn't simply chance that they never dropped any clocks while there were already clocked on the screen?

And, do you mean that clocks are dropped from enemies slain while a clock had already been collected and all enemies are frozen?

Whether the enemies are frozen or not in ZC, yes. Any enemy killed after the clock appeared, there could be another clock item.

Well first off I have played the first quest MANY times on ZC. I think about twice or three times I have seen 2 clocks on screen at a time. So half-confirmed.
But how do you know that in the NES game clocks would not drop more than once? It may simply be a coincedence that they happened not to.

I'm declaring this report Not A Bug - insufficient evidence.
Should more people become convinced that duplicate clocks are not suppose to appear, the inconsistency will be addressed post-2.50.

I did checked the Original NES. Only one clock at a time.

And let's review the history of ZC. I was hooked on ZC the first time I downloaded it (from Download.com) and the version was DOS 1.84 containing a text file for history of ZC.

This is the highlight of the history text file (also found in History in zeldaclassic.com) The one in bold shows the change to only have one clock at a time per screen. That WAS in 0.95 debug and it is during the time the creator "Phantom Menace" was around.

Level 9 is almost done. Fixed a bunch of
stuff:

- blue wizzrobes (closer to the real thing, anyway)
- fairies fly around
- items left by enemies should be more accurate
- the enemies' rapid-fire weapons bug
- a double sized screen mode for resolutions of 640x480 and above
- memory management (hehehe... I think the older versions had
memory leaks. Hopefully I've fixed the problem.)
- enemies stop when you get a clock
- only one clock at a time

- keyboard & joystick dialog box bug in high res modes
