They're definately not supposed to be green, or black on the second with the use cset pallete box checked in the Enemy Editor for the second one.
I dont get it. 😕
Same thing with item and weapon sprites.

Cset 6 is Links colors, they change depending on what ring Link has, from green to blue to red.
I'm no sure what the issue is with cset 5, ShadowTiger was having trouble with it to.
For sprites, it's best to use 7,8,10, and 11.
I use mostly 10 for all items, and vary from that only when the color I need isn't in 10 and 7 and 8 (usually 8) for sprites
There is some basic info on palettes on my page, in the sig below.
Here's some of what you will find on my page;
The ZC palette is divided up into 15 blocks of 16 colors each. These blocks are called "CSets" (color sets). The first color in each cset is transparent.Main: CSets 0-5 are background colors and 6-14 are sprite colors. Below is an explanation of each:
Background colors:
- 0,1: used for subscreen colors and map colors
- 2-4: loaded with different "level colors" *
- 5: extra bkg CSet, independent of levelSprite colors:
- 6: Link's colors
- 7-8: constant sprite colors
- 9: level-defined sprite colors *
- 10-13: extra constant sprite color CSets
- 14: used for boss colors, which are loaded as needed* Tiles using these CSets will change color according to the level the player is in.
Yeah most of what i'm using is 7, 8, 10, and 11. Plus cset 2 and 9 for some enemies so they change colors depending on levels. I suppose I could swap cset 5 and 6 with 1 and 2 so I don't have to spend shitloads of time recoloring. hmm...what the heck is the deal with cset 5 though. I never had any problems with in game colors before.
Was there a thread that ST posted problems with cset5 in?
Well using + or - you can't get to csets 12 0r 13, so how exactally can you use them?
I believe 12 and 13 are in the esp1 sprites palette aren't they?
To work with sprite (esp1) palettes you open the sprite palette, choose the cset you want to use and click on "load to colorset 9", then you use cset 9 on the tilepages to view and work with those sprites.
This is also how you do gleeoks. 😉
If you are referring to 12 and 13 maybe in the main palette, I'm not sure.
I don't know if ShadowTiger made a thread or not, he mentioned it to me in a rep he gave me.
heh, been awhile...that's right 12 is for gold ring and 13 is for fire gleeok. Thanks Freedom. So what about csets 1 and 2? never used those for enemies or sprites before. Would that work?
2, 3 and 4 change with level palette.
I sometimes use them in special cases where I need a sprite of those colors, 0 and 1 are constant, you can use them for different things, I use them for water, statues, and the like, but they also are used in the gui I believe and for other things like the hearts and message string colors, so you have to be careful if you change any colors because you might effect things you may wish you hadn't. 😉
Doh!
So what about csets 1 and 2? never used those for enemies or sprites before. Would that work?
That's a typo. I meant to say 0 and 1!
Usually I use those for subscreen and other stuff, but never in game sprites. Don't need to worry about messing any colors up. (take a look in the subscreen in the pic.heh) So it'll work. Right?
I use 10 for my subscreen.
here's something else about cset 5,This is in rules
- Fade C-Set 5: Use this if you want to use CSet 5 for certain things,
and want it to fade out like the other CSets when a room goes dark.
If CSet 5 is used for the subscreen, you shouldn't use this rule
Yes, I made sure that rule was off......
.............
- Fade C-Set 5: Use this if you want to use CSet 5 for certain things,
...certain things. I wish I knew what that meant.
I'll try it again but this time i'm going to check that rule and see if it does anything else.
EDIT: Nope still doesn't work with cset5....Although I have moved everything to cset 0 and 1. Works great now.
So therefore cset 0,1,2,3,4,7,8,9,10,11 work for item and enemy sprites. That's good enough i guess.
I'm sure cset 6 is not a bug; as Freedom pointed out it's used for Link sprites.
I'm not sure what's going on with cset 5. Does anyone know what's special about it?
Aside from this, not as such that I can recall. I use it as just any other Cset, like 10 or 11.
CSet 5 is working fine for me.
If you have "Use CSet Palette" checked in the enemy editor you are *not* using item (normal) CSet 5, instead you are using Boss Cset 5, which is a completely different CSet.
I don't see what else there is here to fix unless you or ShadowTiger post a sample .qst.
I never could figure out what ShadowTiger was talking about, It works fine for me.
I was wondering if he had the "fade cset 5" rule checked and if that played any part, other than that I have no clue.
What I was doing originally was using link and enemy weapon animation sprites for cset5 and 6, along with enemy sprites, and they came out busted. I have long since moved those csets to 0 and 1 and have no problems with them anymore. I don't even think I have any versions of that quest or backups from that long ago anymore (I did some cleaning), so I suppose ST will have provide some more info.
It seems to be working fine now.
