* Screen scrolling should now be true to the NES when the "Smooth Scrolling" quest rule is not enabled.
^That may be the reason for the bug.
Anyways, when you go left to right on a screen it is good. However, going up and down to the next screen, is awkward. I know that is the way the NES did it, however, I don't want it in my games as that is a little annoying. My HoD game is on 2.10 and it is does it on there, and I didn't like it. lol.
So if this was made on possible, I think it should be one of those things to leave on the 1st quest as a rule that is checked, but leave the other games out of it.
I agree, that screen transition is awful.
Ughh...This is horrible. I completely agree with you shoelace 100%. In any case: Confirmed.
...hmm, I don't really wan't it too seem i'm in a crazy tangent or anything, but these NES compatability issues... [I apologize for this beforehand, it is not intended to be disrespectful to anyone in any way.] They're not really bugs. There's nothing wrong with the code that existed before. Shouldn't these be considered "new features" or "suggestions", and due to the beta suggestion forum being closed, and 2.5 halted from implementing new features, be treated in the same manner? They seem time consuming to add, may lead to more bugs, and now that there is some public outcry against this, quest rules must be added to preserve backwards compatible gameplay the way quest designers intended. Although the way Shoelace put it, is much more uplifting than this...kudos to him. -Also I can't think of a nice reprise for this so...
A turkey club walks into a bar an says "gimme a beer", and the bartender replies " i'm sorry, we don't serve food here".
EDIT: .........Wow.......sorry about that. What I meant to say was "can this be automatically enabled by default for all custom quests?
Heh. If Nightmare were around, you'd never hear the end of it.
The fundamental goal of the ZC project has always been to imitate as closely as possible the NES Zelda. Being a platform for custom quests is secondary. There have been other projects with different goals - Open Zelda comes to mind - but PM charted out this course in 1.83.
haha..yeah. Usually for me more features and rules=more awesome. But in this case I started a new quest in 478, played for 5 seconds till the new screen scrolling kicked in, then turned it off before I had a seizure, and apperantly lost my mind.
I suppose i'm too eager for said stable version, or more so, the newer stuff delayed till after. Thanks for fixing this, and preferable to have quest rules for stuff like this disabled for custom quests in the future.
Well, the way that PM wanted it set up originally, and the way we are continuing to do it is that a Z1 clone should be able to be done as closely as possible without any quest rules turned on.
So how was this "Fixed"?
Auto enable of the quest rule, or reversed to needing to be enabled in the 1st quest?
Well, the quest rule is supposed to be enabled automatically for any quest that was saved prior to 2.11 beta 18.
Ahh...memories of the NES scrolling burning my retinas. I haven't seen this in a month. Anybody wish to differ?
