[461] Sword swinging (not really a bug)

As the title implies, this isn't really a bug. But... you know how Link's sword swinging is a bit more extended than in 2.10 and earlier versions. This is just an inconsistancy for earlier quests. So label this as a "slightly inconsistant feature." I think it would be better if this extended slashing could be a quest rule so Link could slash normally for older quests. Your call.

Master_of_Power wrote:The upward slash had a slightly larger hitbox in the original Legend of Zelda. You could hit some things 2 tiles away.

Assuming that this is actually what Pineconn is talking about, this has always been in ZC. If you hug the bottom of, say, a 2 tile high rectangle of bushes, you can stab clear through both bushes. And you can hit Darknuts through blocks, etc.

That's not really what I'm saying. 2.5's sword slashing carries over into previous quests, and it really shouldn't. 2.5 should be able to play previous quests like they are for that specific player, or at least 2.10.

So wait,
1) Is current stab behavior inconsistent with NES stabbing?
2) Is current stab behavior inconsistent with earlier ZC releases? If so, which versions?
3) In what way, if any, is current behavior inconsistent? Is it a graphics problem, a gameplay problem, or both?

heh the sword in Lost Isle reaches shorter then the sword graphic :P but thats completely unrelated im sure.

DD: you got my PM about lag when there is lots of scrolling on the screen right?

(Sorry, I should've tended to this earlier.)

Sword slashing in 2.5

Notice the difference? In 2.10, Link does not move and the sword is close to his body. In 2.5, the sword is farther away from his body and he moves forward on the third GIF frame. Regular stabbing is the same in 2.5 as previous versions.

EDIT AFTER DD's POST (just so I wouldn't bump the thread): Excellent. 😊

I've fixed the sword animation so that during the lunge the sword no longer leaves Link's hand.

The lunge itself, however, I'm leaving in, as it's a very minor change that shouldn't affect old quest gameplay, and looks better. If anyone wants a quest rule to remove the lunge, let me know.
