In the NES: When Link attacks the Peahat, they are bumped back.
But in ZC: Peahat remains stationary even if Link attacks it.

Hmm... I don't recall peahats getting bumped back by Link's attack in the NES game. Besides, flying enemies (as well as some other enemies) don't get bumped back.
Confirmed. Peahats do get knocked back in The Legend of Zelda.
Okay, I played the NES game on the emulator, and they actually got knocked back by the sword beam for some reason. So, also confirmed.
Bug still remains in 473.
Bug still occuring in 478.
Bug still occurs in 492.
yep, both sword beam and the wooden sword itself knock peahats back.
Build 492
How about a *gulp* rule...or better yet misc effect. I can think of a couple quests where fighting hordes of peahats that get knocked back would be EXTREMELY frustrating...

You forgot to add "don't" in between "itself" and "knock" in the sentence.
um your wrong zcAmazing, go get a good rom dump 😊
Developers, before fixing that, make sure you use the cartridge and the console (recommended) or ROM (good dump) and emulator and check that peahats do or don't get knocked back when hit with sword or other weapon.
Franpa:
I will investigate all ROM dumps.
Done. Checked on (GC), (U) [PRG0], and (U) [PRG1]. Peahats do get knocked back. I cannot get any other good rom dumps from ROM sites anymore due to its ESA protection. And I will never do it anymore. The downloading of ROMs is piracy. Maybe it is best that I (and everyone) should have a wii, but I don't...
Sighz... could somebody with the real NES cartridge please definitively answer the following:
1. Peahats are knocked back by Link's sword.
2. Peahats are knocked back by Link's sword's beams.
This seems to all be a big misunderstanding.

See? Ambiguity strikes.
haha, yes i was referencing the original LOZ in that post.
I just tested this earlier on a real NES. Peahats should be able to be knocked back by both sword beams and sword strikes.
Inconsistency still exists in Build 500.
Then the bug is
.
Deferred until post-2.50.
Fixed in the next build.
Your a dev? o_O
Confirmed (almost?) fixed in 796.
In ZC, The knockback occurs for vertical it the peahat is EXACTLY on the x tile cooridinate and Link attacks from above or below of the peahat, and for horizontal if the peahat is EXACTLY on the y tile coordinate and Link attacks from left or right of the peahat.
In the NES, even when it is NOT EXACTLY on the x or y tile cooridinates, when it gets hit, it quickly moves to the nearest EXACT position on the tile cooridnate (where Link is standing) and knockback occurs.

Yes, I am. <_< *pokes title*
zcAmazing: Hmm... I'll see what I can do about that. I won't make promises, though~
Wait...
I checked the NES again, carefully.
* Peahats now get knocked back when you attack them. Remember that they can face 8 directions. Knockback only happens when you attack enemies from their front or back, so be careful. So if the peahat slows down while it was moving straight up or down and then stops, vertical knockback is possible. And if it slows while moving straight left or right then stops, horizontal knockback is possible. Diaganol movement nulls the knockback.
In the NES, no matter what the peahat slows while going any direction (including diaganolly) and stops, knockback is always possible.
To fix, knockback occurs on all four sides.
Should Peahats also get pushed back when hitting them with a Wooden or Magic boomerang while stopped, or a Fire Boomerang anytime? They do in 798.
Also I can stun a stopped Peahat in 798 indefinitely with the Wooden or Magic boomerang. I KNOW you can't do this in the original LoZ.
Also when stunning a Peahat from above with any boomerang it pulls the Peahat up towards you.
(I know there's no Fire Boomerang in the original LOZ so it's ultimately up to the devs what should happen there.)
wooden/magic only knock them back half a tile i believe on the NES and only under certain circumstances that i forget..
