scrolling up should have the screen move down a pixel then start scrolling up.

Build 492

Yes, I noticed and posted the same thing in my beating a dead horse thread.

Also I do not have an NES emulator with fancy features, just eyeing it out which for me is good enough.
-Maybe a NES scrolling redundantcy majority poll, where it can be agreed upon and decided exactally what the heck should be changed.

the goal of the program since just before phantom left was to play the original LOZ quests as they are played on a real NES.

Yes, thats also a good thing. I agree with you there.

-I am more referring to the fact that this inconsistancy has been fixed more times than Michael Jacksons face. ;P

hehe..

I checked with the 492 and the Original NES using emulator that has move 1 frame feature.

They match. Overworld and Dungeon.

As for scrolling up (that is Link heading down) you are wrong. In the NES, the screen moves up a few pixels before scrolling up 8 pixels at a time every second frame, and that has been done in ZC.

Again for the developers, this is User posted image.

Hurray for my 300th post!!!

oh i meant moving up, as in your character himself scrolls upwards to the above screen.

so far everything in realtime happens much faster then the nes does. you can not tell how fast stuff occurs in frame by frame mode.

edit: i see now i had aspect correction on so the screen was stretched thus making it look slower on the emulator.

If you want to truly find out how vertical scrolling is done, frame-by-frame, play both ZC and the Original NES. Use F4 in ZC to move one frame at a time. Check for matching between ZC and the Original NES.

If you had the Original LOZ NES cartridge or Gamecube Collector LOZ disc, play it and record the vertical scrolling if you have a DVD recorder or VCR, then playback it frame-by-frame.

ROM and Emulator (hopefully it has one frame feature), use the feature to move one frame at a time before, during, and after vertical scrolling. (VurtuaNES has the move one frame feature, press SPACEBAR. After use, press P.)

So there are no more problems with vertical scrolling? For real? For some reason I'm not going to be holding my breath... :-/

Yes. It is gone now, DarkDragon.

Franpa, watch your FPS. Make sure it correctly shows 60/60 in the emulator (if available and enabled).

It still looks a bit smooth in ZC. Are you sure it's going 8 pix every other frame and not 4 pix each frame?

It might have something to do with my LCD monitor, though; motion is smoother on LCDs.

Yes, for Overworlds.

Use the F4 key to pause and move 1 frame at a time to find out.

(Remember that dungeon scrolling has the same amount of pixels but every fourth frame there. Already checked the original NES.)

yes, this was noticed, it is smoother in ZC then nestopia and virtuanes at vertical scrolling... yes i set refresh rate to 60hz and yes both emulators run at a solid 60fps and vsync is on.
