Crazy knockback.

Another one I keep forgeting about. Whenever link gets hit by an enemy(or runs into one) that is diagonally upper left, or upper right to him, the knockback sends him downward like 6 squares, almost like warping. But only if the knockback is downward. Other directions seem to be fine.
Did anybody else notice this one?

I'm not able to see this bug, either by playing a quest or looking at the hit code. Could you please give me more details? Does the bug depend on the walking style of the quest?

Gah! I tried reproducing this in a demo like the last one, but for not. It seems the harder I try to get this to happen, the more futile my efforts become. It's mocking me...well I know what to look for now, i'll try to narrow it down. I just need some time with it and am going to play through JQ2 for this. There's plenty of enemies in jq2! haha.😃

EDIT: Even if I can identify certain conditions for this I still have to be able to reproduce them....thus it may take a while.

Mwahaha!!!

I can now reproduce this with 100% success. Gleeok-1, Game-0.
What happens is the knockback is 64 pixels, not 32. Again alway's down...

However I have just tested this on the NES and I have to conclude;

-NES INCONSISTENCY bug.

There are actually two inconsistencies at work here, but the result might put deep gashes into the code.

I would be happy to re-report this post 2.5 if you would like...or sooner. It's up to you. Let me know, and feel free to temporarily label as "not a bug"

If knockback is unexpectedly different from a diagonal direction, that should be fixed now. Inconsistencies can be worried about later.

Actually this also appeared in 2.10. Maybe earlier. Maybe back to 1.00.
It just happens that I finaly decided to figure out why the heck it would sometimes do it, and sometimes not. It's existed for at least 3 years, and look how many people notice it.

I take it curiosity has killed the cat, eh? Well in that case I haven't actually made the demo quest yet. Should be fairly short, like 3 or 4 screens.

Here we go.

Just follow the on screen directions( very short, one message) and Get Hit!
Remember to center link inside the square(not off to the side). I have placed them at presice locations. I stopped at three screens, although I could of kept going.

And as usual I must make the following statement: So how come no one noticed this before?..huh?

Anyways have fun!
