Using the 'File > Open' method to open previously-exported .QSU files results in an 'Invalid Header' message, followed by an 'Invalid quest file' message, yet they can still be imported in the usual way.
Here's the allegro.log entry using a previously-exported .QSU of NeoFirst:
Decrypting...okay.
Opening...okay.
Invalid header string: '-(N=7A+
L>N*~ANLon' (was expecting 'AG Zelda Classic Quest File
' or 'AG ZC Enhanced Quest File
'😉
Reading Header...error.
what is a QSU file? and you would import it if it is something you exported...
It's an unencrypted quest file.
And yes, you do export it, but I believe the autosave feature can also save backups as unencrypted quests.
As far as I know, you've always had to import these files.
I'm not too sure on this one
Dark Nation wrote:* The quest open dialog now has a dropdown to allow you to filter the file list to only show quest files (qst), unencrypted quest files (qsu), quest backup files (qb0 - qb9), quest timed save files (qt0 - qt9), and all files (not sure why anyone would need or want the last one, though).
If QSU files shouldn't be opened through the open dialog, then why should they be listed there to begin with?
This is a bug and I am reclassifying it as such. QSU files are listed in the quest open dialog because you *should* be able to open them there. Looking into this.
Backups can't be opened either
As we all know, almost all programs (and Windows) try to open a file in a way that corresponds with it's extension. The file won't open (with a few exceptions) if it's extension is different than it's actual format. As far as I know, a .qsb file extension has no real use in ZC (because it's not an actual format). The extension's only purpose is to seperate the back-up, from the rest of your ZC files.
Long story short: a QSB file cannot be opened in ZC/Q because it is not meant to. It's only purpose is for the Quest Maker to rename it to .qsu to import it.
file extension mean naught.
most videos on a pc have a header and as such even if you remove the file extension the movie will play fine in most players.
Bug confirmed fixed in 414. Timed saved files can now be loaded correctly. Dead bug. 😉
