Build 204: Returning bug: Damage Combos overstepping their bounds?

Ever since the solid combo rule was implemented by L, damage combos have made various quest impossible to finish without cheating. Case in point, if you have a narrow strip of land going up north alongside a string of damage combos and you try to turn up north into that small strip of land, for some odd reason, the damage combo hits you EVERY TIME. You no simply can't get past. This no doubt effects all quests with similar 'scenarios.' Turning on/off this quest rule doesn't seem to help. Furthermore, this bug has been fixed TWICE, once by Jman, once by Koopa. Jman said he removed the solid damage combo rule that L implemented and everything was fine. And then L re-put it back in and now things are fooked up again. Stop it! It simply doesn't work!

I can confirm this one (in build 212). It's a serious bug. Eg. you are walking a narrow path (Link surrounded by damage combos) to left and then the path takes a turn up and you try to go up, it's impossible. For some reason the corner damage combo oversteps its boundaries and hurts Link in a case like this. Please devs try to look into this.

Could you guys link me to a sample quest? I set up a scenario exactly like Petoe described and did not get this bug.

A sample quest? Well sure but before that, I just figured out what causes this bug: This bug doesn't occur if the damage tiles are walkable combos, like I guess they usually are in people's quests because who would be stupid enough to try to walk thru them. 😛 But anyways, in Lost Isle me and Wolfie make some of the damage tiles half unwalkable just so that people don't try to cheat by walking thru them with a big life meter. Here's how you trigger this bug:

The circle you see is the part that won't let you through. You always get damaged at that corner, and those green lines tell you what parts of the dmg combos are unwalkable.
If you still can't reproduce this bug, then I shall send you an example file.

bravo, your writing skills amaze me :P (pointing at the word "solid"😉

I think I've fixed this problem in the next build.
I make no promises about solid damage combos, though; the code for them is pretty complicated and I'd be very surprised if it works correctly in all cases (pushing a push block over a damage combo, for instance.) You'll need to nag L to investigate them.

well, we don't plan on activating the 'damage combos take priority' so hopefully your fix works, if not you can be sure we'll post in this thread next build.

Seems like you succesfully fixed it for b224, DD! Thank you very much! keep up the good work!
